My wife got a parking fine in Drogheda . .

    Absolutely disgusted. .

It says on the fine, "a notice was affixed" to her windscreen, which it wasnt .

This is the first we heard of it .

She has been working in the same place for 3 years, always parks in the same spot and knows the areas to park in .

How does one go about disputing these kind of things ?

I have no intention of paying the fine . .

What exactly are you disputing - whether she should have been ticketed for parking there or whether the ticket was affixed to the windscreen?

It really doesn't matter if she got the ticket on the windscreen or not - they can be easily ripped off etc.

Does she disagree with any of the ticket's technical points?

Apologies, just worked up right now .

I mentioned the ticket being affixed to the windscreen as it wasnt (and you know the way in some instances this can be struck out on a technicality) .

But our main bone of contention is that my Wife only parks in a handfull of areas around her office and she is adamant that she never ever parked in a spot that was marked as an unparkable spot.

How do you actually dispute these things (I mean whats to stop them just ticketing us all!).

It says the street that the "offence" happened (there are several spots that my wife can park on this street), but it doesnt say exactly where it happened or what the offence was (under subsection 2&3 of section 3 of local authorities act 1975).

Theres no point in disputing it as they'll "look into it" and you'll still have to pay the fine at the end.....Been there done that etc....btw you wont get any sympathy form certain people on here...even though we know we were right..;);)

I don't know about Drogheda, but in Dublin wardens tend to photograph the car with the ticket. Isn't there a number on the fine you can call?

If the OP's wife wasn't parked illegally then I can't see why the fine wouldn't be cancelled.

how do you prove she wasn't legally parked to get the fine canceled though?

I thought parking tickets had to say what specific offense you committed (i.e. expired time, blocking footpath etc)?

can you scan and post the notice you got ( keep the personal details covered) and you will get better feedback.

My wife got a ticket in Dundrum (opposite SC) and when I had a good look at the ticket it did not specify the offence, it just said contrary to the pay and display regs and a classic, the amount of the fine was in E's not €. The company who issued the ticket did not have a € symbol on their machine. I raised these issues and the ticket was cancelled.

My wife got a reminder when she wasnt even parked on the day/on the street ....no photo evidence or anything..just the reg no.on the fine...disputed it but a waste of time..they insisted the car was where they said it was....easy money me thinks..

If clampers, traffic wardens, Gardai, etc frequently use photographic evidence when pursuing offences like these, maybe every driver should take a quick photo of their car including any relevant info, times, tickets, road markings, etc whenever they park it anywhere and before they leave it?
You never know, it might come in handy in disputes.

(Thinking to myself I dont even have a camera on my phone!)
