    Hi All,

I'm trying to get Irish characters into a DVD that is being created in Final Cut Pro (fada over E) and I can't find how to, can anyone help?

    Thanks in advance

It depends on what you're keyboard layout is set as (look in System Preferences > Language & Text >Input Sources)

If you have it set to "Irish" then Alt and e pressed together will give you é. You can do this with any vowel.

If you have it set to British or US, then Alt and e will give you the fada (´), then you press the vowel you want (in this case e), and it puts it on top.

I have my keyboard layout set up only as Irish, just because my partner had a fada in her name and it's handier to type it. It doesn't have any adverse effect on typing anything in English.

If it's a capital letter you're after, just press Shift at the same time.

If none of this works for you and you're really stuck, copy and paste from here:

    á é í ó ú

    Á É Í Ó Ú

Cheers, it's not actually me that it's for, it's someone else, he says that that doesn't work in Final Cut but it works in other parts of the OS

Although I've worked on Final Cut I've never had to use Irish characters. Can't he just write the irish characters in textedit and copy/paste them into Final Cut?

    That's a very good question, I'll ask

I designed the Irish and Irish Extended keyboards for Apple. You're all very welcome. ;-)
