Been push starting my car for a while

Tried to start my car about 2 weeks ago, dash lights came on etc, let it heat up, tried to turn it on and it barely turned over. So have had to push start it every time(4times) I've driven it since. Took a drive for a while to let it charge the battery but didnt seem to make any difference. Its a 2002 Toyota Avensis.

I have it close to 2 years. Havent replaced the battery since I got it. Is it likely the battery is knackered or possible something else is wrong? The head-lights etc all work fine when i drive so the engine seems to be producing electric power fine.

    Thanks for the tips,
    -W

Sounds like you need a new battery.

In my experience, if your battery goes flat once it needs to be replaced. If it's died on you once it'll never be reliable. Change your battery =]

Probably the battery, probably get a new battery for €50 - €80. Be aware that you shouldn't do frequent push starts on cars fitted with catalytic converters, during a push start, unburnt fuel will pass through to the exhaust and destroy the catalyst. Catalytic converters are much more expensive to buy and replace than batteries.

If you sell it before the next nct this wont make a difference.

You must be knackered, pushing a car for 2 weeks!!!

Agree with everyone else, get a new battery. But before you take the old one out, get your radio code or your next thread will be

    "Radio Code for Toyota"

I assume it's an oil burner as the OP said they waited for it to heat up, have they got cat's on them?
