Hi, not clued in on exhaust mods in the slightest so just looking for advice. I have a Mk 2 Leon 1.6 and am looking at doing something with the back box on it to make the tail pipe look better basically. I have come across this but it seems to be all that is out there online from what I can see.

Any body know if that would be a good buy? Also, I'm presuming as the cat is not touched it will not affect emissions in any way as it's due it's first NCT in Feb and kinda want it to pass:pac:

Alternatively if anyone could recommend somewhere that could supply something it'd be great. Willing to travel if needs be but ideally somewhere around munster maybe

You can buy universal backboxes on eBay alot cheaper than the ones in the link that will weld straight onto your Leon. Since its not a full exhaust system the emissions will not be affected by just fitting back box. You could also try your local exhaust garage as they might be able to supply you a back box aswell.

I'd be looking for a cupra r back box (if they bolt straight on)

The ones from the older models wont fit, the are in line whereas the newer model has the box level with the back bumper and an l-shaped pipe out of it and any of the upper models on the new model wont work with the stoopid 1.6:mad:

Steer clear of any car part that has the word 'universal' in the title.

The cost effective option (i did this on my old Diesel golf) is to get a rear valance with the cut out for the twin tail pipes and then get 2 stainless steal pipes from a breakers etc and just have someone weld them on.

Checked with dealer, going to try and get an FR or a Cupra back box. They said it will fit so might be the most cost effective way. Does anyone know if an FR back box is the same as the one on a Mk V GTi?

If you're just getting for the look would a chrome exhaust tip not do the job?

I have one and I hate the way you can see the original pipe inside it. No point in getting anything fancy as it wouldn't be worth it on the car to be honest. Might be onto something though now with a box from an FR TFSi:D

Can i see a pic of your existing tail pipes? What ever you don't go for chrome, stainless steel all the way.

How much is a back box costing? I'd imagine the bore of the centre pipe would be smaller on your car.

Ya, I'll have to get a piece welded in alright. Existing is this (without the tip):
