Couple of things........ is there an entry fee or is just whatever sponsorship you can raise ?
Secondly what do you envisage number of entrants to be ?

It doesnt seem to have been promoted that much, Im not sure too many people know about it.

    Cheers

This is the edited route, there is only a very slight change.

    Beasty,

there are a few only doing the first 40klm so you in with a good chance of an epic top 50 finish.

Everyone stay safe and be seen, plenty of bright colours.

Don't think I'm down as an entry, I know we said we'd use the one card and all put the donations down on that, what ever we have collected or else just give a donation on the day.

Would think there will be a number of poeple just doing the 40 if the weather is anyway nasty, still should be good the the area along the coast is always nice.

That will be ok alfalad, I reckon the weather should be ok for Saturday, there are only about 12-14 doing the 40klm, so top 50 finish is on for all.

Now now top 50 is no attitude to have should be aiming for top 5 and if i come outside then the line will be it was a recovery spin!! Believe me I will be saying it was a recovery spin and that I got lost!!

Alfalad - let me know what you will be wearing and your bike model. I will then hopefully be the the one stuck on your back wheel for the duration, until the last 100m when I'll try and make a sprint for it:)

Post 558 in this thread is my baby. Some slight changes but nothing major. As for what i'll be wearing, no idea yet depends on weather but i'll prob be cycling with a guy wearing the meath colours, guy in Navan was selling the shorts and jersey with the meath colours and crest and my bro couldn't resist!

Say hello when you see me!

i was out for a few solo spins and covered the course you have set out fair play to you its a nice route a mixture of hills and flats just two things to be aware of, there is a few serious pot holes on the way into annagassan on the bend in the road as you approach the village also on the map it indicated usuing a small slip off the North road on the road into Drogheda taking you out at the 1st roundabout i am not sure if this is a good idea as it is in a very bad state and may cause a serious accident by riders trying to get around the hugh pot holes on this lane/road .looking forward to saturday and a good turn out

Nice event. Took a couple of detours, but the Garmin soon got me back on track. Ended up doing 83.2km in just under 2h 53m (28.9 km/h).

Thanks for a well organised event Mattock.

Sorry I didn't see you alfalad - did you get there?

    Beasty,

I know now where you got the name from (animal), glad you enjoyed it you finished in some good company.
Did you stay for tea and a sambo.
It was my first time organising an event like this, so any feedback is appreciated..
The weather was brilliant, done one heavy shower in tallanstown and everyone missed it .
Last cyclist in at 5hrs 15mins , he was a friend of mine on a mountain bike, just 51 turned out today, thanks to each and everyone who made it happen, might organise a bigger event in march 2010.

I'm claiming the victory (based on where I defined the finishing line anyway:)).
I did stick around for a coffee and snack - it was a good spread - thanks

It's nice to have something in Ireland that's relatively flat (although I still recorded just under 500m of climbing), and I would certainly encourage you to arrange another. These things seem to grow as more people become aware of them, and I am sure you will get more support next time.

I think your right to claim the victory seen as you went of route and still came back in front, only to be caught by the local contingent.

The lads on the tandem were motoring well, they came in at 3hrs 15 mins the guy on the back is blind, he was playing the mouth organ after the tea the craic was good.
Thanks again the monies raised will help out big time , the pavilion area you were in is home to the local youth club, every friday nights there are over 60 children from 12 to 16 years of age, and its too small so we intend knocking walls and extending, also the monies are split with the blind so it was a worthy cause.
I will text all participants with the amount raised during the week.

    Big thanks to all.

Beasty, sorry didn't get to chat to you, I did see you alright at the beginning, saw the Cayo and the jersey but was running round trying to get a track pump for one brother who forgot to pump the wheels for the last couple of weeks. Said i'd catch you out the road but another brother got a puncture 10 km out the road and never caught ye so sorry about that. Between that and getting lost we were nearly last

To Mattock, I'm sure I was chatting to you but well done on the event, it was well run and I always enjoy going along the coast, throughly enjoyed it as did the everyone I talked to, so give yourself a pat on the back! The weather as well really helped as well as was a lovely day out there!

I was chatting to a boards luker so i'm sure you will be reading this and nice to meet you and really shouold join a club, as having one the 80 after only 3 months cycling thats impressive stuff!;)

    Alfalad,

You were chatting to me alright, it was me who fixed the bro up with the tyre, glad everyone enjoyed it , as you said the weather as a big help and most importantly everyone got home safe.

I will be back on the bike in another week or so the back is coming on great, my two cycling partners finished in 3 hrs 15mins inc there stop, pretty good for lads only at it since june.

Might see you along the route sometime , did you get the bike clean after your detour, blessed with the weather.

Must have been annoying having to drive round rather than cycle! Didn't know you were injured, hopefully you get back on the bike soon though!

By the time we got home the bikes where a lot cleaner cause we ended up driving through a serious heavy shower, saved me a bit of work, quick rinse with the hose and clean the drive chain and the bike is like new again!

3hr 15min was a nice time alright well done to them!
