    Ok guys,

Have had my Alfa 147 for the last 3 years and fancy a change.

Would be lookign at spending around 5k, so that rules out an Alfa GT, 159 and Mazda RX8, the 3 cars i really want!

Im a 26year old male, want something a bit different, thats nippy enough (dont mind petrol or diseal), comfortable, good value for money and looks good.

Have considered a Leon Cupra brought in from the UK, but am a little unsure.
Dont want a Golf or Octavia (not even a VRS), dont like VAG (except for the Leon!).

Considered a 3 series and an IS200, but just nah, just dont do it for me. Even thought about a Saab 93, but its a bit granda. Then considered the Honda Accord, whoch i like, but again, doesnt do much for me.

    Any ideas?

What about a 00/01 Audi A4? You should be able to get one for around the 5k mark. I know someone who got a A4 for €5300.

Look again at an IS200 sport lad, unbelievable car for the money can be bought so cheaply at the mo. well not in Dublin but round my parts can be bought for 5k all day for total minters. A beuty to drive and v clasy looking.

The reason i didnt want an IS is because its becom a bit chav..the new civic. I want something with a bit of class while also being quite sporty. A few years ago the IS would of came into that category, but not now.

The celica is also something i considered, but again i think they're becoming a bit chav. When i was buying the Alfa i was going to buy a celica, loved the drive etc but sometimes i just look at them and think they're so ugly!

I dont know, nothing out there that intresting from what i can see!

What about a 156? Nice upgrade from your own and 5k should easily buy a minter

    How about this?

Looks like a clean example, and you're not after practicality it's a hell of a lot of fun to drive.

discounting a car just because the general public associate an image to it is stupid.

I'd discount the is200 because its slow, drinks petrol and is boring instead.

156bhp saloon with 28mpg isn't a great recepie for a car, so that'd rule out the IS200 for me. I'd sooner pick up a E36 325 to be honest. Regarding the Celica, don't worry about image, just keep it standard and get one with the spoiler in black or blue and keep it polished. It'll look like a different car to the chavved up brigade.

    What about a audi a4?

Boring, common, poor value. I'm assuming that's what the OP will come back with.

Image and other peoples perceptions is not the be all and end all, but it something that i personally take into consideration (albeit not very much). Like i wouldnt be caught dead driving a yellow cinquento...

Last time I looked at C70 prices (expecting them to be dirt cheap as they're kind of forgotten!) they were outrageous.
    How about something like a 306 GTi-6?

    Some top down fun?

exactly how brave are you feeling?? :D

obviously some of the above cars will attract hefty road tax, but there are always the smaller engined varitys available

Don't worry about bringing in cars from the UK I've done it loads of times, Its hard to get unusual stuff here without paying through the nose.

Come on Liam, VRT on a GTV 3.0 is extortion now since the CO2 changes! That car would cost over 7k to land, and that's before motor tax is paid and NCT is done!

And black is the best colour! :P

Some nice suggestions there. Id love a GTV, a friend has 2! Its on the consider list.

The V6 156 i would love, but im not made of money! Just not into Fiat Coupes, dont like the luck of them. The Lancia...not a chance!

    RX7 is just to outrageous!

Theres notin making me want to sell th Alfa, nothing really grabbing my attention (except maybe the GTV or Celica...and the RX8 and 159 of course!).

Maybe i'll hold on for now...
