White Sand / White Cement plaster finish

I seen a house in wicklow some time ago which was finished with white sand / white cement as opposed to a regular plaster finish.

Does anyone know is there a name on this type of style or has anyone got any links or references to examples of it?

It just uses white sand (bought in bags) and white cement, any plasterer will know about it, it's been used very commonly for 20 years.

I had this done for my house, looks great. I think I need to get a sealant to seal it.

Same here, have been told that eventually I will have to paint it as it doesn't stay white forever.

I know this is an old thread but on the offchance can someone tell me where I can buy white sand and white cement - preferably in the midlands. A google search doesn't seem to give me any obvious hits

Just to update this thread, the south facing wall is starting to show signs of staining now after about four years. It will soon need painting.

dont paint it dolan buy a 5 ltr weed sprayer for a couple of euro from one of the big hardware shacks and 5ltrs of thin bleach from aldi /lidl dilute the bleach 50% with water and spray it on your white plaster leave it overnight and rinse off with garden hose and it will be back as white as the day it was done. no finish is maintenance free but white render is fairly easy to keep white if you do this on a yearly bases and a lot cheaper than painting the house.

I would say Dathi is right dolan - it is most likely some fungus which will be killed and washed off by that bleach treatment.

BTW waiting for ganlys to call me back on whether they have that thks

Just bleached the wall and it's come up brillient white!

you can also do different colours by using white sand,lime and grey cement or brown sand,lime and white cement
