    Think you are right. I presume if they had played in it it would only have been a shadow of the full Irish team, no Porterfield, O'Brien, O'Brien. Do you think they will be aiming for more regular games against associates or full members?

    I generally think this is a good idea but I would have a concern that it will make it more difficult for fringe players to break into the team, with most of the games we'd be playing next year having consequences it would make it harder for the coach to look outside the tried and trusted players.

    I think that's the reason behind expanding the A Team season as well.

    Frankly, I think this is the right way to go - we're an international team and that's what we should be playing. I don't think we'd get value for the money CI would have to spend for the 40-over ECB tournie, so it's right to withdraw.

    Apparently the ICC were consulted as part of the process of making this decision.

    That could be a very good sign for the big step.

    Not only that but the ECB aren't upset so all in all, could be the makings of a few changes in world cricket!
