conflict ignorance

How would you go about dealing with someone who would go about ignoring you for weeks and weeks on end. Even months over any sort of a conflict no matter how small it may be. When she finially does speak its a tempered rage, shouting obscenities and blame. She also believes shes never wrong or at fault ever.

During the times she is ignoring you, she would provoke you for a reaction by doing something malicious. Therefore you would have to speak to her, where she would continue ignoring you. She's often walk away with a smug little smile on her face.

You'd think I did something dreadful. You'd think she was married and I ran away with her husband or something bad. No. Just small misunderstandings. I've tried making amends.

Ignore HER and get on with your life?
Next time she does something malicious just smile at her and keep walking.

    Er, stop enabling her.

She is what's called 'passive aggressive' -the sulks and stonewalling you, followed by cold rage are punishments meted out to you for transgressions she has decided (judge and jury) have been made, even when they haven't.

She enjoys your discomfort. She enjoys controlling you. She enjoys seeing you miserable and trying and trying to fix the situation.

I bet you are constantly vigilant for things that will set off her sulk/rage routine. Don't bother, its nothing you are doing wrong. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Its just self indulgent behaviour by someone with a behaviour disorder.

You will never win with these people. Life will be a constant struggle against their moods and whims.

Your only realistic choice is to cut contact with this toxic person.

    Ignore her back!

My sister is quite similar to what you described. I used to always be the one to try break the ice, or make amends after another petty falling out. In the end I stopped. I asked myself why I always trying to smooth things over just for her to start another similar row a few weeks later.

We had a row in March 2008... for the first time in my life I didn't go back trying to make things right. We barely speak now. We're civil in each others company, but that's it. There's no chit-chat or no conversation.

My life is so much easier, and happier now!
