Shrinking Jeans

Does anyone know of a good method to shrink a pair of jeans? I have a pair of new jeans but they're just too loose all-round. I tried washing them on a hot wash and then dried them in the dryer on a high heat setting........but it didnt work. I read somewhere that if you sit in a very hot bath with your jeans on....and then let them dry when they are still on you, this shrinks them to fit you perfectly. Its a tip from Levi's. I dont fancy wearing wet jeans for 4 hours.

    Has anyone any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance!

I don't understand that if they are brand new, why did you buy them so big?!

Sorry i lol'd at the idea of walking around in wet jeans for hours  theres no way id put myself through that. I wouldve thought the tumble dryer wouldve worked. Ive shrunk enough things in it to know:p Have you got it at the highest temperature setting?

If they're new, why don't you just exchange them for a smaller size?

^^ I'd say it's too late now to exchange them especially since she's washed them lol!

Ahaha, my Mother used do that when she was a teenager. That's what she attributes her arthritis to.

I wouldn't walk around in wet jeans for hours. It's not good for you at all. Plus it sounds like an awful way to spend your time. If the tumble drier didn't work I don't know what will.

Did you put them on a boil wash?

I completely forgot that she'd washed them! :o

OP, I don't know what you could do. Maybe try sell them on e-bay and just buy a smaller size?! A lot less hassle and more comfortable than sitting in wet jeans for hours!

I probably should have tried them on before i bought them but they're a size 6 and initially i thought they would be too tight on me! I just like tight-tight jeans! Ill still wear them though - its no prob. I thought there might be some clever way to shrink them. Thanks for the comments though ppl! :)

If you find a good seamstress theyll be able to take the whole pair of jeans in. Love that my mums a seamstress and can do it for me when the dreaded stretch sets it!
