Congrats...hope you got to see the ball go in the hole.

Only had one myself...12th hole on my home course, about 10 years ago unfortunately.

Well done!! Never had one myself. Did you go into the clubhouse and buy everyone a drink?

You must have got a great view of it going in the hole from the elevated tee..... well done, congrats.

I had one in the Irish boys a good few years back now, It would have been even better if I hadn't been disqualified later that day. Ah well thems the brakes.

My thoughts exactly - a great hole to get an ace - it must have been beautiful to watch it all the way

Well done. Must be a great feeling. I hit the pin once before, years ago, but never managed to get one.

Great stuff mate! I had a few chances of getting close to the hole but it's not the same as getting a hole in one!!! :):)

As it turned out there was another guy or maybe two who got a hole in one that day aswell and the local newspaper wanted to take a photo of the three of us with our scorecards. The GUI scorecards dont have the par of the hole on them and when I looked over my card I noticed the guy had switched my scores for two holes i.e. he had put my score for the 12th in the 13th and the 13th in the 12th and unfortunately one was a par 3 and the other a par 5 so I had signed for a lower score on a hole.... therefore DQ. Yeh I was going well and was initially really annoyed with myself but these things happen. The GUI were really nice about it, one of them fought my corner but in the end the right decision was made.

Hole in one on a par 5 eh? A Condor apparently...

Ive been lucky enough to have had 3 so far. i used to play on a par 3 course growing up so pretty much every hole was a chance. each hole is roughly 160 to 180 yards in length. My first was when i was 11 and was hitting a driver. :) havent had one for 8 or 9 years now

No my hole in one was on the front nine. I defo would have noticed if he had switched the score for the hole in one.

Never ever had one, despite maybe 2000 rounds of golf. Probably had 50 birdies on par 3's within 18 inches.

    to answer a few questions..

it was an elevated tee, so was great to see it go in, i could watch it the entire way, i developed a sort of tunnell vision as it approached the pin, hoping it would swallow it up..

It was in a match too, so was extra special, but i didnt bring my wallet so no beers sadly, altho about 7-8 people seen it go in, i got a great big chear as it dropped :D

@ Kevin, i got a lift to the course, and he had your book in the back, so we were talkin about it on the way down... turns out I have it beside me now, as im lining up Corballis for Friday, and needed a review :D

I've had two. The first in my own club. the 18th hole in Malahide. Hit an 8 iron and turned around in disgust about the strike, turned back to see it take a couple of bounces and roll into the hole.

The 2nd was in Kilkenny this year and was on the 15th hole. I hit a 5 iron. I'd also eagled the previous hole, the Par 5 14th. I doubt i'll ever do that again.

Also on the 8th hole in druids glen i pitched in the hole only for it to bounce 30 foot up into the air and land 20 foot away...took me a a couple of minutes and all my gardening skills to repair the hole after that one...

I've had 2 in the space of 3 weeks both with an 8 iron. Luckily the bar was closed at the time. Saved me a few quid. :D

I've never had one and I've been playing for 17 years. I've holed second shots on par 4's but the hole in one still eludes me.

By the way, did you know that if you are a member of a club and have a golfnet card you are insured for the drinks you have to buy everyone when you get a hole in one. I think you can spend up to about €150 and get it reimbursed.
