Yesterday a neighbour's terrier injured a parent hedgehog, which sadly died overnight leaving it's young pup[?] behind.

What should I do with the poor lil fella?

Give it cat food and water, it should be pretty big this time of year, they're getting ready to hibernate and need lots of food.(please don't give bread and milk it makes them very ill)
Maybe call the local vet for advice, they normally don't charge for wildlife.

Keep it in a quite place maybe a cardboard box with shredded news paper. They don't necessarily go to sleep for winter, just find a nice warm den and move about less, living mostly on their fat stores.
