I rolled with Gunni when he was a blue belt and it was a bit different even then. Great talent, I think he's grappling just about 4 years now.

    He tapped Monson ffs

I thought he beat Monson on points? Still, great result.

An absolutlely ridiculous result! Congratulations to Gunnar, the absolute division was full of stud grapplers and to get through Jeff Monson and David Avellan is very impressive! Aswell with your two losses coming to Xande Riberio and Vinny Magalhaes, who are both numerous time BJJ world champions and would have had a large weight advantage that is nothing to be ashamed of!

Yup alot of it, Gunni was living Dublin for over a year and training in SBG but has spent alot of time travelling to learn too since the BJJ scene in Iceland is so small but of a high standard all the same! :)

Did Gunni not have really good jitz when he came to Dublin? Maybe I am confusing him with someone else.

Yeah he had just gotten his purple belt from Matt in Iceland when he came to stay in Dublin as he had a shortage of high level training partners at home.

Gunni is a natural too the sport with a great attitude too. It was just more about putting him in the right direction. He spent most of his mat time between Dublin and Manchester rolling with John and Karl before going to Renzo in March! :)
