Location of vent in room w/ solid fuel stove

Hi, can anyone tell me how I would find out where the vent in a habitable room of a new dwelling should be located? The room will have a solid fuel burning stove. I know there are several factors to be taken in to account such as size of room, orientation and location of applicance amongst others. The architect who should be doing this hasn't been able to answer it (don't ask)!! Should the installer be able to answer this and if not, where do I find out without going to much (if any) expense?
    Thanks.

If air-tightness is what you are after then go for a stove that operates with an external air intake. This can be a pipe directly connected to the outside world (underground) or via a propitiatory chimney system.

If on the other hand you just want to have a wall vent (like me) then I placed it on the adjacent external wall. I'm not sure it matters greatly where on the external wall it's placed as it's not as if the stove is going to swallow oxygen directly from the surrounding area of the wall vent anyway!

Wall vent + windows with trickle vents for room with stove should do the job.

Thanks GoneShootin, to be honest I'm doing this for a mate so I don't have too many details re the stove apart from it's solid fuel. I was on the understanding the vent had to be in a certain location in order to comply with planning but maybe I misunderstood.
    Cheers for the info.

This document contains vent guidance - varies with type of appliance
