If I didn't know any better, I'd swear that they are portraying Freddy as an innocent victim rather that the evil spawn of a 1000 rapists or whatever it is meant to be. That, or this Freddy is just a weasel playing dumb. ;)

What's with the dramatic jacket removal ?

Will probably see it out of curiosity, but it's gonna be hard to beat the original...

Let's be honest, that has nothing redeeming whatsoever going for it!

The chick at 1:19 redeemed it just enough for me :pac:

23 actually.. and Katie Cassidy is a stunner!

Most people will know her as the-better-Ruby in 'Supernatural'.

Yep, the film looks woeful though..

so the sadistic torture side of freddy is completely gone?

    looks crap.

half of it looks shot for shot the same of the original (bathtub, steam corridors, dialogue) and the other half looks much more neutered then the original

    lets compare and contrast:

    The remake really looks crap.

The trailer captured nothing of what Nightmare on Elm Street is supposed to be. It doesnt appear to have any Freddie humour either.

Good, because Freddy was reduced from an awesome horror character to a stupid quip delivering clown, the guy is meant to be a child raping murderer not someone who kills teenagers while delivering sub-Carry On one liners. If its like the first movie then great, although I would have much rather seen a rerelease of the original instead of a remake

Well, allow me to retort: Jackie Earle Haley!

Dude is made of awesome. Though he's really gonna end up pegged as that actor who plays pedophiles, isn't he?

Though I was glad to see Clancy Brown as the guy chasing him. It's been a long road from Highlander to here...

Not really, in between he has turned in some truly fantastic performances, his work in Carnival is superb and let's not forget he is the voice behind the great Eugene Crabs.

Yeah.. we get it.. 'Watchmen'... what else was he good in?

One great performance does not a fine actor make!

I know, but ending up as vigilante parent #1 in the latest cookie-cutter horror remake? I don't know, maybe it's a big supporting part - it's just that the dude (and his voice) are so iconic it's a little sad to see him in so few leading or big roles.

He'll always be Lex Luthor to me.

I was thinking more of his Oscar-nominated turn in Little Children - hence the worries about him being typecast. But Watchmen works.

    Ah.. never saw..apologies..!

I'm just sick of people gushing over his performance in Watchmen though.

I was referring to the first movie. ;) The others are rubbish.

The black humour of freddie is what made him unique in the first movie. Without that, he is just another Jason or Michael Myers tbh

Being honest there is only one horror icon who still stands up today and wasn't reduced to a caricature through one lines and comedy heavy sequels, The Tall Man. He remains the most chilling and evil horror icon of the past 50 years.

The Phantasm guy? yeah he's still creepy as hell, Pennywise too

clancy brown was good in the shawshank redemption too in fairness. but for me he'll always be the kurgan, the ultimate fcuking badass.

I have to say I'm very disapointed with their vision of Freddy...he looks ****ing ridiculous. More like an Accountant than a killer.

Not to mention that that jumper looks pretty flippin' ridiculous without the charred face and scissor-gloves. It doesn't help that he reveals it like he's revealing he's friggin' Superman...

I realised that it was going to be rubbish when it got to 0:46 into the trailer. The death knell of any horror film.

Just watching it again, has anybody noticed how badly the make up is actually done on his face? There's 2 shots of it, the easiest one to spot is right near the end. It looks terrible, nothing that inspires terror like the original did. I love NOES but this looks like one of the series I'll give a miss.

I don't mind the make-up, Haley said a long time ago that Freddy would look like a more genuine burn victim. His face is very "stretched" and "pulled back". His face is a pinkish hue. I don't mind that look at all.
