    Hi, I need advice,

In order to apply for rent supplement you need to go onto a local corporation housing allow. They issue you wth a receipt which you give to CWO & only then can they start your rent allow application.

My council today refused to accept my application ( Yes point blank refused !)as their housing officers contract has ended & only she can accept an application. Therefore they will not issue me the application acceptance letter. Without this I cant get the CWO to issue rent supplement. They also said will take 6 weeks to assess my housing need.

What is the point in supplementary allow as I believed this to help you while things were being processed. Any advice appreciated.

Options, go to your local citizens information centre - and see what they say. Definately contact threshold for advice.... they deal with housing issues. If I was in your position I'd also contact my local county councillor or TD and ask them to explain what is going on in the county council and also get them to do something as this has an adverse affect on you and other applicants for rent supplement. Hope it helps.

CWO unfortunately can do nothing - she cant submit without, citizens advice advised they cannot refuse to accept - Em they did - ok well we dont know what to advise you. Contacted local TD, who will look into - in mean time twidle thumbs..
