Hi...bought an item on ebay on 11/9 from the US. The seller said they posted it to Ireland on 14/9 and it still hasn't arrived. Is it reasonable to assume it should have arrived through customs in 14 days?

The seller gave me a customs number...not sure what to do with it, ie is there anyway of checking up on this parcel?

First time buying on ebay so no idea what to do...

If anyone can help it would be great...

    Thanks a mill...

I'd give it at least another 10 days as things from US can get stuck at odd places at times; what mail service did they use?

Hi, thanks for answering...not sure what postal service they used but have mailed them to ask.

Hi, was the item you bought valuable. If it was it might be held up by customs. The person who sent it would have to declare the value of the item on the parcel.

Sounds like something he's made up. Customs don't give out numbers. The only thing you can get from the sender is a tracking number, if he has one. If it's not registered, then there's no way to know where it is.

If Customs have it, they'll contact the recipient (you), not the sender. If it's valued at over 22 euro (though usually OK to about 40 euro), it's fair game. If there was no value declared, and it's of reasonable size, then they may have opened it to value it themselves.

I paid 80 euros for the item. He won't tell me which postal service he used. This is what the seller has replied twice now...have asterixed out the last three numbers myself.

HI, YOU CAN GO TO POST OFFICE AND ASK . IT WAS SEP 14 /09. FORM DECLARATION CP264854*** US LET ME KNOW? THANK YOU.

Try putting that code in here:

    http://track.anpost.ie/track/trackone.html

It could be a track and trace number. I've bought stuff from as far away as china and used the tracking number in the above ling to see where it was. If the seller has posted it, it will show here. It can often take a month for a parcel to come from the US.

yeah is not recognising the number but thanks. If it takes up to a month I shall stop panicking...thanks for replies

Looks like a USPS tracking number, which should come to An Post here. Got to usps.com, and enter the number there. If it's left the US, that should show up as such. At least you'll know what continent it might be on.
