    Hi,
Does anyone have any information on standard shift allowance rates.
My company has decided that they want to switch from 9-5 to shift work.
There will be a 3 shifts similar to:

    Earlies: 7-3
    Day: 9-5
    Lates: 3-11

Does anyone currently work shifts like this and what allowances are they currently getting.

    Thanks

Only one I can see any allowance on would be the last one for two to three hours at most and most likely 30 to 50% if that; 11pm is not that of an unsocial hour to finish at (but be careful with public transport).

As far as I know, there is no shift allowance payable at those times.

Usually, there is a night time rate and a rate for rolling shifts such as 6-2, next week 2-10, next week 10-6.

Is it a manufacturing business?, if so there may be a sector specific agreement.

2-10 is 20% in a place near me

    No it is in IT.
I will be negotiating a new contract as my current contract is for Mon - Fri 9 to 5.30 with no mention of any other hours so I hope I will be in a strong position for either a pay increase or some decent shift allowance if not both.

There is no statutory requirement for you employer to pay a 'shift' allowance.

Several different shifts where I am
If the above incl weekend - 25%
    mon-fri - 20%

They may give you no shift for the 9-5 and 20% for the other 2 weeks some places do that
as stated there's prob no statutory right
And of course may try use the fear of losing a job to get it thru for free

I also worked in a place that paid O/Tfor any hrs outside 8-5 for the same shift as that thing of the past now I reckon
