I've done my retune, and am seeing some funny results. As far as I'm aware, I'm receiving my signal from Preseli (North Wexford). The public service MUXs are coming in perfectly:

    CH 43 (BBC A) quality = 100%

CH 50 (BBC B) quality = 100% - this now seems to be only broadcasting 3 stations: 305, 302, and Community. Presumably this will be used for HD in due course?

    CH 46 (D3+4) quality = 100% - this is now broadcasting Five.

I am only receiving 2 of the commercial MUXs:

CH 42 (SDN) quality = 100% This is now hosting ITV3

CH 49 (ARQ B) quality = 100% at 15:30, though this was fluctuating quite rapidly between 0 and 50% at 12:30. So much so that it looked more like a transmitter problem than weather. ITV4 has moved to here.

The quality of the signal for CH 45 (ARQ A) is at 0%, even though it's strength is in the mid-70s. I'm not picking up Sky3, Dave, .... etc. I was under the impression that CH 42 and CH 45 were now moved to full power?

Great update there Bothy. Ch.49 will remain on low power. The digital Uk website suggests work is still ongoing at Preseli, so it could be that things haven't quite settled down there.

In any case, keep an eye on it for us. Could it be that RTE are upping the juice to compensate?

You must have strong mt leinster reception where you are-can you see mt leinster?
Mt leinster is co channel on 45 with presely.

One poster in the sticky thread is reporting that the presely ch 45 mux is working for him in gorey.
To date in my experience it won't work with a combined set up where you have a uhf aerial also pointed to mt leinster.

The reason you have high signal there is that there is high signal.
The 0 quality represents the garble cause by the fact that 2 transmitters are competing with one another.

I think that Black Briar has identified the problem ...

I'm also in the Gorey area, which is perhaps about 45km from Mount Leinseter. I do, however, have a VHF (RTE) and an additional UHF (TV3, TG4) aerial pointing towards it.

I might temporarily disconnect this UHF aerial to see if the UK CH 45 can then be picked up. I wonder if the other Gorey person is picking up TV3 from somewhere else? - I've a feeling that there may be a local transmitter, which people living in the town have access too, but which I don't.

All in all, once I have the main British channels, I'm very happy.

    Thanks for the replies guys.

Correct all round. BBC Mux B is being cleared for HD services via DVB-T2. Ch 45 is cochannel with Mount Leinster so you need to take steps to filter it out if you can...

Yeah disconnect and see what happens.
You'll probably get reasonable tv3 and tg4 analogue mt leinster anyway without it if you have a presely group B-most people do.
Incidently up in Arklow,Kippure dtt is possible no problem with fair analogue.
It may be more difficult down in Gorey.
I've a grid pointed to mt leinster combined with presely -hence usually no presely sky/dave mux availability and no MT leinster either on ch 45,the same as you.
But I do get weak dtt from kippure even with the grid pointed at Mt Leinster.
So next chance I get a little cd is going up there combined and pointed to kippure and the grid is coming down.

    .
Yes theres a very low power rte tx located at the graveyard in Gorey afaik on the little bit of high ground to the north over looking tesco.
It doesn't have digital obviously and I think it's for the RTE tv channells only ie no tv3 or TG4.

Black Briar... good to have you back!

The allocated frequencies for Gorey are:

    RTE1 54, RTE2 58, TG4 64. ERP 10watts. Some masts around main street point towards it.

RTE also broadcasting a low power UHF RTE1 and 2 on their allocated frequencies of 30 and 34. Picked it up occasionally in Wexford town but it is low power.

It's called the Clonattin transmitter I think our good friend Mylie senior had something to do with its setup.

Ok, so that's where it is ... I'm about 2km away from it, so I might re-position my Mount Leinster UHF and see what happens. It was Mylie who put my set-up together about 4 years ago - I would imagine that he tried using the Clonattin relay first, but it's worth a shot anyway.

Scrap that. It looks like the Clonattin transmitter needs a different aerial (group C/D)

Theres no need to do that.
It doesnt do tv3 afaik and a simple vhf pointed to mt leinster combined with presely will not affect presely.
It's the uhf aerial pointed to mt leinster that causes problems.

You have dave +1 anyway so I personally dont see the point for just sky 3,sky news and sky sports news [ok maybe for the sports news channel?] but give me news 24 over sky news any day.

"[ok maybe for the sports news channel?]" ... That's one I definitely have no regrets about :D

It looks like none of them are worth sacrificing TG4.
