Price for bumper re-spray

Last week I chanced my arm an inch too far while manoeuvring in a car park and scraped the rear bumper of another car.

I did the honest thing and left my details and they contacted me today. After checking out a price for a re-spray they came back to me with a quote of €180.

To me that seems about right but I just want to check opinions here as it's not something I'd know a lot about. From what I can find elsewhere somewhere between €200 and €250 seems to be the norm so in that case this is a good price; would that be right?

    Any thoughts appreciated.

    Thanks.

I'd think that whoever you hit did the honest thing too, and got a reasonable quote for repair.

Sounds like a good price IMO. Fair play for leaving your details, many wouldnt.

    it seems a reasonable price...

with Bumper scruffs you usually have two options the cheap and IMHO nasty one, a touch up re-spray, where only the damaged area is re-painted, usually they price it at around €80 -€120...
or the proper way, taking the bumper of cleaning it all down and respraying and laquering the whole bumper, gives a far superior job, they generally range from €200 -€250 a bumper....

So I would say its a good deal.....

Yeah, I wouldn't have felt right driving off and the person was grateful for me being honest - as much as you can know I didn't get the impression she was out to rip me off when talking to her today.

I suppose I'm more conscious of her being led down the garden path than her doing it to me - as she said herself she is about as knowledgeable in this area as I am!

I'm happy to pay €180 if that's what it costs - I had mentally set aside a bit more than that to be honest.

Just want to make sure I'm not being naive.

Haven't a clue what she's going for but I suppose that's at her discretion - €180 would seem a bit high for a touch-up so for her sake hopefully she's getting the latter!

Fairplay for leaving your details. I had a shoppin trolley go straight into mine and took a chunk of paint off the front bumper.. Careless people i tell you in shopping store car parks. Only had the car two weeks at the time. I remember one day i was filling out a few forms in the car when a woman pulled in in a jallopy of a car and opened it her door with a fair bang against mine....I got out and said what the ****....and do you know her reply...."im sorry i didnt know you were in the car" well i went crazy....

Sorry rant over but once again fairplay for being honest.....Karma will reward you i hope.....

I got a bumper on a B6 A4 resprayed last year due to stone chippings and was charged 190, but in fairness I take all my business to this guy so he looks after me, and does an outstanding job too.. Of course all the other jobs he's done other people paid for!
