I got a quote when going for my braces, happy enough knew it would be costly. No change that I am aware of so the price I was quoted is the price I have to pay so that's fine.

Thing is I've paid two installments and due to pay another one shortly.
Which will mean I have over half the quote paid off then. However I haven't even had the braces a year yet and I still have over just over one year to go and then another year with a retainer.

So what happens because it looks like I'll have the whole thing paid off long before I'm finished with the braces and retainer does that mean the rest of the visits are free. As far as I know it includes the cost of the retainer but I will find that out on the next visit.

Has anyone had to pay extra for their retainer or was it included in the quote.

When I say paid off I mean the dentist will be paid still will be paying the credit union for about 3 years lol.

Just wanted to find out from others wether the retainer was extra or wether they were charged extra even after their quote.

It reads like, you were given a treatment plan, a time frame and a payment schedule. Do you not think that your question would be better put to your orthodontist?

Wasn't given a payment schedule as far as I can remember it's usually a payment every 6 months. As I said I will be asking at my next appointment.

Thing is why should I pay in full long before the treatment is finished, I just couldn't believe how much they were asking for the 3rd payment because if they ask the same again one more time that's the entire thing paid off and it and I'll still have a year and a half of treatment ahead.

Will be asking them anyway was just wondering what other people did.

If the payment is due every 6 months, thats a payment schedule. I do not do any ortho treatment but my understanding is that there is a lot of x rays, models, planning, bonding, wire placement and replacement in the beginning and this tends to become less near end of treatment. With that in mind, I think it is reasonable to request a larger percentage at the start than the end. Also, it is a sad reality but for treatments that involve a considerable amount of time, skill and materials, it is important to know that tha patient is going to be able to pay.
