How far is it to Beauvais? Wondering is it do-able for a weekend away. Have been on a daytrip, would love to stay over.

Any recommendations for accomodation on the Mont itself?

Does it have to be Beauvais, which is about 350 km. away? Nantes is far closer, about half that distance. Rennes is closer still, but services are generally available in the summer months only.

I have never considered staying on the Mont, but from reports I have read, the hotels there are fairly basic 2-star standard

Jesus. Thought it was only a few hours, like 200km or so!

Not sure if there are any flights from Shannon or Cork to Nantes. Could go ex Dublin, but would be only tacking on the miles on this side then.

No. It would have to be on the island!

Stayed near there before, and its IS stunning, but have heard that it's at its best when all the tourists leave at night and the causeway is closed off to traffic.
