hdmi not working - bdp3000

    My components are as follows:
    Themescene HD75 Projector
    Sony 5400es amp
    LG 42" Plasma (720p).

    I have just bought the new Philips bdp3000 player which when connected directly to my Plasma via HDMI, works perfectly. I then connected the player to my projector via HDMI and the picture is scrambled - on all modes, 480i all the way to 1080). Connecting the player with componet cables directly to the projector works fine (568i), but the whole point is that I would like to get HD to my projector. I also have an XBOX 360 that has its signal upscaled via my sony amp to the projector via HDMI and this works fine.
    Please can someone help? Does HDCP have anything to do with it. The projector is only a few months old.
    Also, can someone help with making the player multi-region.
