Has anyone got an explanation of taxes on US investments (for Irish citizens), or a link explaining them?

If you are Irish tax resident then you are liable to Irish capital gains tax on your worldwide gains. You may get a credit for any US tax suffered, it also depends on the type of asset.

Have a look at the Irish/USA double tax agreement, its not as bad as it sounds.
