I am looking to buy a Fiat Panda and have seen some UK dealers selling them for £5,995 OTR. I went to the VRT calculator and see that it would cost €1613 in VRT. What else do I need to add? Is this the best way to do it?

Any advice or feedback much appreicated. Never done it before this way.

Alot of the uk dealers would be quoting the price based on the uk scrappage scheme at the minute. I dont know the price of them so not sure about the price you gave there.
If importing, you have to pay vrt and also vat applies if the car is less than 6 months old and/or less than 6000 miles covered. Best thing to do would be to buy a slightly used one to avoid the vat therefore only vrt would apply. BY buying slightly used, you would pay significantly less compared to buying new.
If you want a new car, it is possible to buy the car off a dealer in uk without paying any vat if its for immediate export. you will however have to pay vat here then regardless.
Best option, buy a used 2009 but try prices here too just to see if its worth while

    Not Your Ornery Onager

    Just to clarify this:

If importing, you have to pay VRT and VAT if the car is less than 6 months old or has less than 6,000 km on the clock.
