    Hi,

I have to adjust recipies for my new oven. I used it for the first time today today (Nigella's lemon meringue cake and Glenisk's brown bread) and found it burned before the recipie time was up.

So I need to adapt the recipies.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to whether its best to start with reducing the time or the temperature?

    thanks

Dot use the fan oven it's much hotter. Dont bake at the top of the oven, try the middle or the bottom. If that does not work start turning down by 10 or 20degrees below the recommended.

Get an oven thermometer and check the settings.

my cooker is about 50 degrees higher then normal i.e. 150 is really 200.

its just trial and error tbh adjust the tempeture down until you find the right heat.

its just natural to me know, i know what temp. to put every on

thanks for the helpful (& 1 sarcastic) replies.

kmicks comment got me thinking that it could be related to the fan.

The fan in my last oven was dodgy, so probably acted more like a normal oven.

I searched for some fan oven conversions and found the following.
