    Hi all,

Has anyone seen any of these around having been imported in?

Its the Toyota Fortuner. I spotted them all over the place in South Africa earlier in the year and they were seriously impressive. I don't think Toyota sell them here, but I think they do in Singapore. Given how many cars are brought to Ireland from Singapore, does anyone know how much they'd be to bring in?

    Cheers!

They are a 120 series landcruiser with flash clothes on.
Cars are seriously expensive in Singapore I can't see it being worthwhile.
Try a direct japanese import or maybe from NZ they also have lots of fortuners

Ah sure I look brutal without my flash clothes :p Cheers, I didnt realise they were that popular in NZ.

Would bringing one in from NZ turn out hugely expensive?

I stand corrected, I was thinking the same engine 1KD-FTV as the late model 90-120 series.
OP have a look at the Toyota Harrier, basically a Lexus with a different badge.

Thailand is full of them also, right hand drive and wouldn't be too expensive to buy there as vehicles are CHEAP like everything else in thailand, I remember pricing a new top of the range hi-lux there at 9k euro!!!! Just need to ship it then. I've heard of problems with air con though and it not being fit for the cold weather here, not sure how reliable that info is though!

I've seen a few of them about Ireland also, lovely looking bus.

Yep, they don't come from factory with a heater matrix, dealers retro fit them (badly) causing leaks. It's at this point the customer finds out that the Toyota warranty on Vigos and Fortuners doesn't exist in Europe.

the Foftuner drives like a Hilux, so no relation to the grip of the Land Cruiser.

Well if the Fortuner drives like the hilux it has pros and cons, the Hilux are a fairly good gripper off road but a bit tail happy on the road but with the bit of weight on the back they may actually be alright, as regards Landcruisers off road......there bloody hopeless!! my L200 can run rings round them and hiluxs for that matter although my own old 97 Hilux was unbeatable offroad, At work if my boss got stuck somewhere on site 9 times out of ten i could drive down to him, drive right around his jeep(laughin in the window at him) then casually back in and tow him out:p

Are they leafsprung rear like the Hilux? If so they will be a bag of shyte on the road unless there is a load of weight in the tray.
Dan your boss must have had bad tyres on, LC's properly equipped are pretty capable vehicles, unfortunately most here are never taken further offroad than a grassy field and only wear street rubber.

Nope, to be fair, they have 4 link suspension with coil springs on the back.
Still run on 2WD most of the time like the Hilus does.
