    Hey guy's

I have sky being installed tomorrow and my VoIP account set up but the ATA which should off arrived on Friday hasn't come yet so i was wondering if there's any guys out there that would give me 30 mins with an ATA just for the sky install and such.

I'm basically kinda screwed and this is a last resort.

I live in milltown, Right beside Ranelagh in Dublin 6.

All help would be greatly appricated.

    Cheers

I don't have such a device from Sky ....... is it possible to connect it to a mobile phone?

Other than that I have heard from a friend that the guy in the shop he bought from did the initial setup for him ........ no landline, living out in the sticks.

For the purposes of your excercise what will an ATA offer you that a softphone will not?

If I'm not mistaken you have mentioned T.38 support as being crucial for your effort and you somehow feel that only an ATA will provide you with that. I don't know either way if your premise is correct or not, but I do know that Zoiper have a freeware softphone client with T.38 support.

A connection between the Sky box and the 'line'?

Thank you. Now I know the premise ;) Well then if you still had no way of getting your hands on an ATA,you could still do it in software as long as your PC had a modem! NCH I think is one piece of software that supports it.

If there is no hardware socket to make the connection how does any software help?

At the risk of sounding pedantic, if you re-read my message you'll see I specifically mentioned a modem. ;) So your question does not arise in this context.

A modem with nothing to connect to is hardly of much use ....
