Changing courses

Hey everyone, quite a serious question here and I hope some people might be able to help...

I'm going into second year, but over summer I realised for numerous reasons that the course I'm in just isn't for me...

Now I know a transfer to another course within Trinity is easy enough providing there's space, etc, but the thing is, (unfortunately) the course I want to do is not possble in Trinity.

Now because I only properly decided over the summer months, I hadnt filled out a CAO and so I was just wondering am I hoping for something that can't happen?? Or would this be possible???

I've already contacted the senior tutor, as I was advised over summer to do it through trinity contacts, rather than just ring up and try it on my own....

You can transfer into other colleges and into other courses in other colleges - technically you can transfer into any year of any course as well (but it of course depends on the dept. allowing you entry). Ashley the Education Officer of the Students' Union should be able to give you some background to how to do this - contact education@tcdsu.org.

I've applied to change my course to History and Political Science. What do you think the chances of me getting it are, realistically? (I have the points)

There's nothing released (I think) as to how many students transfer internally. So there's no statistics or percentages to go by how successful you'll be. Ignoring this, keep in mind that lots of people transfer in college.

Right so, just have to hope then.
