Need advice on a top scorer bet

Long story short I was doing a number of season-long bets the week before the season started and had €6.75 left in my online account so decided to do a fun bet. I went for an accumulator on six players to be the top scorers (league) for their respective clubs:

    Bent (Sunderland) 6/4
    Defoe (Spurs) 5/4
    Rooney (Man United) 6/4
    Adebayor (Man City) 9/4
    Torres (Liverpool) 4/9
    Drogba (Chelsea) 5/4

    The €6.75 stake returns €1,002.61

I was looking at the top scorer list in the prem this morning and these are now the top six scorers in the whole league. I normally do all my bets in the bookies and I've never layed a bet off before but I was just wondering what your advice would be on this? I only invested 6 euro odd so id be happy to make a few hundred quid out of this now. Im sure the odds would have come down with these guys firing on all cylinders. Would it be worth my while laying this off now?

    Cheers :D

Take into consideration that Drogba and Adebayor are going to the African cup of nations in Dec/Jan and could be gone for a full month or more

I'd be most worried about Jones at Sunderland and Crouch (Keane at a stretch) outscoring your picks if either get injured. But mostly good shouts. I'd leave it until Christmas at least before looking at laying off, you're only in for 7-odd quid now so see how it pans out for a while

As above: Fairly early doors to be thinkin of a lay just yet. Robbie Keane does 15 or so a season for spurs, and is already way ahead of his usual first 2 month tally (Especially last year's )

I was going to do an Adebayor Top Scorer PL/Chelsea PL/Barca CL treble a couple of weeks ago before his ban. Glad I didnt now, especially since Nando will bag about 30 this season.

Firstly how do you plan on laying off on a 6-fold accum seven games into the seasons. Just let it ride. It is for a 1k profit and there are just too many variables involved. It is not worth laying it off for a tiny profit.

Drogba's heading to the Cup of Nations so i would consider sticking in fat frank or Anelka there sonny jim, just an opinion though. Best of luck with it all the same.

    No.

I'd forget about this bet until the final day of the season.

I think Anelka will outscore Drogba.

    Good luck

I had forgotten about the ACoN until you mentioned it. Did this bet on a whim, just picked players at random with no research. Although, I was looking at the prem games on during the ACoN. With FA Cup also on in Jan the players will miss two prem league games guranteed with a possible 3/4 should their country progress to the latter stages. I'll be ok as long as their (Drog/Ade) main competitors don't score too many goals in their absence.

As long as everyone stays injury-free I think the main concern is Defoe. All the other player's teams have a settled lineup but Redknapp hasn't decided on his at Spurs yet. I'd imagine Defoe will play every week but just have to see how it goes!

I've no experience at all of laying off bets but my logic was that all these players must be strong favourites with the bookies now in this market so maybe I could lay it off for a tidy profit. Listening to everybodys advice I think I might just let it ride.

Don't see Frank getting the kind of goals from previous seasons the way Ancelotti has the team set up. Anelka will be a danger for sure, but I think hope the Drog will edge it!

I had actually forgotten all about it until logging into my online account last night to check on the progress of my other season bets. Have a feeling torres, bent, rooney will run away with it. The other three will be in the shake up until the end. An ideal situation would be 5 from 6 home and dry going into May with say Drogba being chased by Anelka. I could just lay some money off by backing Anelka and I'll be quids in  In an ideal world! Injuries are my biggest fear right now!

Just thought I'd give a quick update on this a few months on with 13 odd games of the season left to play. When I wrote my OP Adebayor was flying and looked like he was going to run away with it but over the last couple of months he seemed to have scuppered the bet. A return to form now sees him on 8 goals (4 behind Tevez) so I'm hoping he can at least make things interesting over the next few months. Have a slight worry about Kuyt catching Torres but if Torres can make it back over the next few weeks I should be grand.

    So as it stands:

    SUNDERLAND

TOP SCORER: (Bent 6/4) 14 GOALS
    NEAREST RIVAL: (Jones) 7 GOALS

    SPURS

TOP SCORER: (Defoe 5/4) 15 GOALS
    NEAREST RIVAL: (Crouch) 5 GOALS

    MAN UNITED

TOP SCORER: (Rooney 6/4) 21 GOALS
    NEAREST RIVAL: (Berbatov) 8 GOALS

    MAN CITY

    TOP SCORER: Tevez 12 GOALS
NEAREST RIVAL: (Adebayor 9/4) 8 GOALS

    LIVERPOOL

TOP SCORER: (Torres 4/9) 12 GOALS
    NEAREST RIVAL: Kuyt 9 GOALS

    CHELSEA

TOP SCORER: (Drogba 5/4) 17 GOALS
    NEAREST RIVAL: Lampard 10 GOALS

Tbh I think Adebayor is done and dusted for this season. The team is set up around Tevez at this stage and he seems to be scorin for fun.

Also you prob have a genuine concern with Torres there. As a Pool fan I don't see him scoring too many more this season. He's not gonna be 100% for the rest of the season by the looks of things, and he's fairly useless when he's not 100% (apart from merking Rio!).

Man City were all about Tevez when Adebayor was at the ACN. Now that he is back he is their No.1 striker again. Tevez hasnt scored in his last 3 League games as he more of a provider now that Ade is back and Ade has scored 2 in 2 on his return. Regards Torres who knows - he seems to be always injured.

Exactly what I was gonna say,10 of Tevez's goals came while Ade was at the ACN,it'll be a close run thing between the 2 of them if they stay fit, tevez seems to need a few chances before he scores and he wont get as many chances with Ade there

It'll be some kick in the stones, if after picking all the hard ones Dirk Kuyt score more then Torres.

How bad is Torres injury? He seems to be made of glass this season

A month away from playing according to Benitez, would probably leave him about 10 games to play if he then stayed fit till the end of the season

Have to agree with you both on this. Adebayor got off to a flyer at the start of the season. He was up to six goals very quickly and Tevez hadn't scored a league goal at that stage I seem to remember. That Arsenal game at Eastlands is where it all started to go wrong. After that he seemed to be banned or injured all the time and then with the African Nations the last two weeks are the first time he's gotten a run in the team since September/October time. It does seem to me that Tevez gets his goals when Adebayor is not playing...long may Adebayor continue playing!! :D

The more I think about it lads, the more I'm getting worried about this Torres situation. Hopefully Kuyt's good scoring form will dry up and the goals will be shared around the team, the likes of Gerrard and Ngog..I hope! With 13 games to go I'd be confident that if Torres got say 5 or 6 games (against weaker opposition) that he could outscore Kuyt (starting on minus 3 goals). Here's hoping! :D

Started the blog when I was unemployed to keep myself occupied. Ran into some horrific bad luck at times and when I got a job I decided to pack it in. Ironically, I've had some decent results since but don't want to jinx it by restarting the blog :p. Doing well with draw doubles at 10/1 and over. Had Bolton-Fulham, Sunderland-Wigan at the weekend. Considering Pompey-Sunderland and Wigan-Stoke tonight. Might give the blog one last try next season!

Cheers. Would be great if it came off. It wouldn't be the most money I've ever won (nearly though) but it would be the longest odds bet I've ever had come in.

Looks as if this bet is all but dead OP. Pity you under-estimated Tevez; By any chance are you a Utd fan/Alex Ferguson?

Hard luck though, was a good call apart from that.

    great picking there

i did a 15 euro treble at the start of the season
    top scorers rooney defoe arshavin
i know it would have been worth 405
thought i was being smart putting in arshavin
given rvp gets injured every season which he has yet again.
i didnt count on fabregas though
