    Hi,

I have a provisional class driving license, I'm doing my test on October 6th. But would anyone know if my license also allows me to drive motorbikes/mopeds or would I have to apply for a separate license?

    Regards,
    Darren

You've to do a seperate theory/driving test for Motorbikes and Mopeds I'm sure. Categories A/A1 for Bikes and M for Mopeds I think.

No, motorbikes and mopeds are the same thing, except for the power and speed. Same theory test, and if you do the driving test on an A or A1 bike (over or under 125cc respectively) you're automatically entitled to the lower classes.
But if you do the test in category M and later decide to get a bigger bike, you've to start over with the higher category.

i had a lot of fun explaining that in the tax office yesterday, ask why m wasnt put on my licence after i passed A and your man goes different test, i say so i need a permit for a moped and i can drive a super bike around if i want! he then when and got a superviser and came back and said yeah well put it on!

ill agree with ya your better off doing a few lessons on a 250 and getting an A licence! i know a lad who done his test years ago on a moped, and now all he can drive is any automatic 125,(no M cat then) think hes regreting it now as hes working out side town and his 125 moped is a bit slow.

Aye I know, when I said separate I meant a separate test to the one you'd do in a car.
