I'm looking forward to the heavyweight title being defended in a singles match.

TNA has several really well built feuds that should be coming to an end at this PPV. It could be epic.

Matt Morgan is "wrestlings future"? Matt Morgan? that guy who got a brief push what, 5 years ago in WWE and failed miserably? that Matt Morgan?

TNA have actually built Morgan up quite well over the last six months and the feud with Angle has essentially been building since June.

Are they really promoting the Angle/Morgan match calling Angle "Wrestling's Best"? Way to belittle value of your world title.

That's pretty nit-picky dude. In ROH Bryan Danielson has always been promoted as "the Best in the world", regardless of whether he's held the title, and guys like Angle, Michaels, Benoit, and Eddie have always been referred to as perhaps the best "pound for pound" guys in the WWE (title, or no title).

    It's no big deal really.

Looking forward to that match though. I don't think Matt Morgan's the complete package, or anywhere near ready to be a headliner in his own right- but they have done a great job with his push.

Sting/AJ should be worth seeing too- here's hoping for a clean finish.

Thankfully, I can't really see who would run in unless they go with some crazy swerve or something. Their Turning Point match last year was excellent and probably Sting's best effort in TNA and that match didn't even seem to hit top gear.

Yeah, I agree- it would make no sense to have someone interfere. I meant though, I hope there isn't a wacky ref bump. It should just be AJ getting the clean as a whistle pinfall.

I disagree. The whole point of a title is to prove who's the best. If you're going to go and say someone else is better regardless it doesn't make the belt worth much. Maybe I'm old fashioned like that but I think the guy holding the world title should be pushed as the top guy.

I see it as nothing more than hyperbole to try and help sell the PPV and make Morgan look better when he (in my opinion) wins.

So is Kevin Nash the second best wrestler in TNA then?

I still think that's completely nitpicky. I agree that the guy holding the world title should be pushed as the top guy, but Machismo Fan put it best when he described it as "hyperbole". It's just a slogan to sell this match, and to sell the legitimacy of Angle. I don't think the majority of people would see it as devaluing AJ at all. It would be awful if promoters starting removing tag-lines, slogans, or nick-names, because they could be percieved as overshadowing the guy holding the belt.

But if say, after hyping Kurt as "the best", and then if they booked his match as the main event of the PPV, then i'd agree with you...

Hopefully, if this is Sting's last match they'll stay away from that kind of stuff (but I can't really say that with 100% confidence, there's been some kind of interference or something in every BFG main event so far).

Of all the crazy things that TNA do and say, calling Angle "Best in the World" is barely a blip on the register.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,510 ✭✭✭Tricity Bendix

Morgan is hugely over right now with the live fans. From a booker's point of view, calling him the future of wrestling is perfectly logical. Like, they call the Cheerleader "the future legend" when she hasn't even won a match. Its a simple booking technique.

    THREE WAY TNA KNOCKOUTS CHAMPIONSHIP
Tara vs. Awesome Kong vs. champion ODB

    bfg7.jpg

Most likely ODB vs. Tara vs. Kong for the Knockouts title aswell. It'd be a shame not to have an X-Division title match on the card even if it meant throwing Red into the Ultimate X and making it a title match. I have a few nit-picks about the Legends title match and the Monsters Ball. Both are kinda diluting the issue. The issue is clearly between Hernandez and EY and Nash has no place in that match as their feud justifies a singles match blow-off. Same with the Foley/Abyss match. The no tacks stip and Dr.Stevie as ref are just unnecessary add-ons that will only hurt the match.

Other than that, it is a great card and it could well be a proper changing of the guard if Beer Money, Abyss, Hernandez, Morgan and Styles go over.

Actually, it'll be interesting to see how much effort Booker will put in, in a ladder match especially considering he's most likely losing.

I think the end is near for MEM - Nash will no doubt lose his title

No Motor City Machineguns on the card

I took it as both sets of titles are up for grabs rather than winner takes all. So I'd see Beer Money winning the TNA tag titles and 3D winning the IWGP.

As mentioned in the sticky we will have a pre, during and post PPV thred. I have edited the title here to indicate it may contain spoilers.

As TNA PPVs do not come live over here, there will hardly be a "during" thread, so on Monday this thread will be closed, and the aftermath thread is to be used.

Lethal Consequences vs. The Motor City Machineguns has been added to TNA's Bound For Glory pay-per-view this Sunday. The match will air on a pre-show at MyContent.com. TNA will also stream a post-show "press conference" after the pay-per-view where fans and media can submit their questions for the TNA stars.
TNA has been papering the Los Angeles area like crazy for this weekend's Bound For Glory pay-per-view. While they usually paper their events, in this case it might be the area as UFC even had to give out tickets.

    MCMG finally have a match

While I'd prefer it built for the actual show, I actually like the idea of putting The Guns vs. Lethal Consequences on the Pre-Show. Anybody on the fence about whether or not to buy the PPV that watching the Pre-Show should be heavily influenced by a ten-fifteen minute match like that.

GUITARIST ZAKK WYLDE TO PERFORM THE NATIONAL ANTHEM THIS SUNDAY AT TNA WRESTLING'S BOUND FOR GLORY PAY-PER-VIEW

In the two decades since Ozzy Osbourne hired him away from his job at a New Jersey gas station to become his new guitarist, Zakk Wylde has established himself as a guitar icon known and revered the world over. Writing and recording with Osbourne led to multi-platinum success, inspiring him to create the now legendary Black Label Society in 1998.

In the decade since, BLS has turned the notion of what a rock band should be upside down by inspiring legions of fans (known as Berserkers) all over the world to follow the mantra: Strength, Determination, Merciless, Forever. SDMF for short, the Berserkers, along with Wylde have created a heavy metal institution true to his vision of uncompromising, unfiltered and unrestrained rock and roll. Wylde’s inspiration comes from not only the fans, but from such notable guitarists including Randy Rhoads, Eddie Van Halen, Frank Marino, Al Di Meola, John McLaughlin and Albert Lee , as well as the vocal stylings of Elton John, Gregg Allman and late Lynyrd Skynyrd frontman Ronnie VanZant. Wylde has won nearly every guitar award imaginable, and is major influence to a new battalion rock guitarists currently popular today. One thing is for certain, wherever Zakk Wylde’s Black Label Society travels: brewtality is sure to follow.

Wylde’s passion for wrestling dates back to youth, and he’s been friends with some of the top wrestlers in the biz for years.

“We are thrilled to have Zakk join us at Bound For Glory”, said TNA President Dixie Carter. “Without any question this will be the most memorable event in TNA Wrestling’s history and we are certain Zakk will start the show with a performance people will talk about for years to come.”

I'm really, really looking forward to this especially after this weeks iMPACT!. Seriously folks, you absolutely have to see the AJ vs. Angle match from this weeks iMPACT!, it's 20 minutes of ad break free awesomeness. It's a match you can't miss. I'm happy to see Red put in the Ultimate X match and Don West as a manager should be good for him. Bound For Glory is undoubtedly a better card than WrestleMania and should be a much, much better show.

By the way, below is the excellent 'Before the Glory' special preview of Bound For Glory which goes a very long way to selling the PPV. It really is very well put together:

Few not 100% stars going into BFG tonight
TNA wrestler Matt Morgan is nursing a back injury heading into his match with Kurt Angle at Sunday's Bound For Glory. He wrote the following message on his Twitter page:

"My back is in spasm in three areas, so I have no clue how I'm going to do this! My luck. Lol"
    and
The following is a recent Twitter message from the official page of TNA star Samoa Joe:

"I don't think I have been this sick in a long time. Hoping I can get well by Sunday."

    Morgan's apparently improving: http://twitter.com/Tnamattmorgan
Thanks for ur support, but im much better today. 10 straight hours of ice frim last night thru today have gone a long way! Ive wrestled with a staph infection four days after surgery! Back is mych better, and im still shoving the CarbonFootPrint straight down Kurts throat sun!

Here's my full Preview of BFG: http://www.ifight365.com/2009/10/tna-bound-for-glory-5-preview-and-predictions/
For me, Victory Road in July was one of the low points in TNA history. With Beer Money, Daniels and AJ Styles all losing, Jenna Morasca being allowed to wrestle, not a great match on the show and no X-Division wrestler in sight, the future of TNA looked very, very bleak after this PPV.

However, in the three months between Victory Road and Bound For Glory it all seems so different. Bound For Glory could well be a new beginning in the history of TNA and a proper changing of the guard.

With that said, lets take a match by match run down of TNA’s biggest card of the year.

    TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
“The Icon” Sting vs. champion “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles

AJ Styles has been in some very important matches throughout his career but he has never had a match as important as this one. This is the biggest match on the biggest show of the year for TNA, possibly their biggest show ever. This could and should be the match that cements AJ Styles spot as the face of TNA, this should be the match that cements AJ Styles as a strong, fighting champion and it should be the match that shows that TNA is a company that is moving forward.

This is possibly the most important match in TNA history and these two have to deliver. Sting hasn’t had a great match since his Turning Point main event against AJ last year but considering this may be his last match and will certainly be his last big match, I don’t see how he can’t give absolutely everything he has to go out with a bang. I can’t see any other result than AJ winning and hopefully clean (we haven’t had a clean finish in Bound For Glory main event history) but considering TNA seem to have worked Angle in with AJ a little, it leaves me worried. I actually think this could be a classic if they just let AJ and Sting go out there and do what they do best with out any extras. Prediction: AJ Styles

    WRESTLING’S BEST VS. WRESTLING’S FUTURE
Main Event Mafia leader Kurt Angle vs. “The Blueprint” Matt Morgan

In the same way as AJ, this is the most important match of Matt Morgan’s career. If Morgan can’t go out there and have an excellent match Angle, he can’t have a great match with anybody. Morgan needs to leave no doubt that he can be one of the men that TNA can rely on to carry the company for years to come. Angle should be his usual awesome self (and anybody questioning whether he’s still one of the best, just watch his match with AJ this week on iMPACT!) and he should be able to do a lot to help Morgan. Once again, like the main event, I can’t see any other result than Morgan going over. He needs to win to show that he can hang with the guys at the top of the card. This should be a great match and hopefully it’ll help establish Morgan as a main event player. Prediction: Matt Morgan

    MMA VS. TNA: SUBMISSION MATCH
“The Boss” Bobby Lashley vs. Samoa Joe

I see this as a sleeper for match of the night. The build has actually been pretty good (and thankfully hasn’t had Lashley talk too much) and the submission stipulation makes things interesting. Even better, I really have no idea who is going to win. The obvious answer in Lashley but with AJ as World Champ, I can see them doing a series AJ vs. Joe matches in the not too distant future which would make Joe the more logical option. The match should be a good mix of mat wrestling, submission wrestling and brawling. Prediction: Samoa Joe

    MONSTER’S BALL: HARDCORE EXTREME
Mick Foley vs. “The Monster” Abyss

Now this is an interesting match. Mick Foley is not the same wrestler he was when he had a classic hardcore match with Randy Orton nor is he the same wrestler he was in 2006 when he had a classic hardcore match with Edge but after watching the excellent ‘Before The Glory’ special, it’s clear that Foley wants this to be another classic hardcore match. The big question is, can he actually deliver it? I’m not too sure, especially with the added distractions of Dr. Stevie as ref and Abyss not being able to use thumb tacks. These two distractions are just going to hinder both men and get in the way. I’d love Foley to pull it out and there’s no better man to do it with than Abyss but we’ll just have to wait and see. Prediction: Abyss

ULTIMATE X MATCH FOR THE X DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP
Suicide vs. D’Angelo Dinero vs. Daniels vs. Homicide vs. champion The Amazing Red

I was really happy to see The Amazing Red added to this match, it would have been a shame to see the division that put TNA on the map not being fully represented of the biggest show of the year. Plus, it’ll be interesting to see what kind of stuff Red can pull out in his first Ultimate X match. This’ll most likely open the show and continue the TNA tradition of opening shows in a hot way and will definitely be a great match. There’s a number of interesting dynamics going into this match especially how Homicide will interact with Suicide. Prediction: The Amazing Red

FULL METAL MAYHEM FOR THE TNA WORLD AND IWGP TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIPS
Team 3D vs. Beer Money vs. British Invasion vs. champions Scott Steiner & Booker T

Full Metal Mayhem is TNA’s version of TLC and this should be a big spot fest reminiscent of the early TLC matches. With Booker on his way out (and good riddance because he has been nothing but a waste of TV time and money for TNA and has done absolutely nothing to help the growth and development of the company) I see Beer Money taking the TNA tag titles and Team 3D taking the IWGP tag titles. Again this should be a great crowd pleaser and should be great for any fan of high spots. Prediction: Beer Money and Team 3D

    TNA LEGENDS CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Hernandez vs. Eric Young vs. champion Kevin Nash

I don’t really see what place Nash has in this match. I know the actual story makes sense and it’ll probably result in either EY or Hernandez taking the Legends title but I think EY and Hernandez deserved a singles match blow off to their feud. With that said, this should be an okay match if they let EY and Hernandez do most of the work and have Nash pick his spots. Hernandez overcomes the odds to win the Legends title. Prediction: Hernandez

    TNA KNOCKOUTS CHAMPIONSHIP
Awesome Kong vs. Tara vs. champion ODB

I’d be a lot more interested if this was just Kong vs. Tara but this isn’t bad. Kong and ODB normally work well, we haven’t seen Kong vs. Tara yet and judging by Tara and ODB’s match on iMPACT! recently they don’t work well together at all. I don’t think Tara should win the title yet so I’d say Kong wins going into a series of Kong vs. Tara and Kong vs. Hamada matches for the rest of the year. Prediction: Awesome Kong

    TNA KNOCKOUTS TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
The Beautiful People vs. Taylor Wilde & Sarita

Taylor and Sarita are really gelling well as a team and The Beautiful People are nowhere near as important without Angelina Love plus Lacey Von Erich is, by all accounts, terrible. Should be a decent match but there’s not much more to say. I don’t really see where the winners can go from here, there are no other established tag teams or contenders. Prediction: Taylor Wilde and Sarita

    Pre-Show Match
Motor City Machine Guns vs. Lethal Consequences

While I’d much prefer to see these two teams actually have a feud built to be on the proper show, I actually like the idea of putting these two teams on the Pre-Show. Any wrestling fan watching the Pre-Show but on the fence about whether or not to buy the PPV should be heavily swayed by a ten-fifteen minute Guns vs. Lethal Consequences match. The match, if given enough time, should tear the house down like these two teams always do.

Overall, I see this as an excellent PPV with some great wrestling, some great spot fests and should be an indication of where TNA are going in the future. This PPV could be one of the defining moments in TNA history and should be the defining moment of AJ Styles and Matt Morgan’s careers.

    Few ex Wwe stars backstage
Jeremy Borash just posted on his Twitter account at http://www.twitter.com/JeremyBorash that former WWE wrestler Brian Kendrick was backstage visiting at the TNA Bound for Glory PPV

    and
Following on from his earlier post that Brian Kendrick was backstage visiting at the Bound For Glory PPV, TNA’s Jeremy Borash has announced that another former WWE wrestler is backstage. That person is none other than Chuck Palumbo

    Once they dont sign Palumbo

Wrestlers from the area a show is in visit shows all the time it doesn't necessarily mean they'll be signed or a company has any interest in them

Palumbo was terrible. No charisma, and boring to watch in the ring. His match with Kane during his last run on SD! was one of the worst matches I've ever seen televised.

The best think he ever did was bleach his hair, put it in pigtails and pretend to marry Billy Gunn.

Best thing either wrestler did, actually.

    Did Sting announce his retirement?

No, I think he said he didn't know what he was going to do

    From tnawrestling.com
After the match, Styles wanted Sting to address the fans. Sting did so, but wasn't prepared to make any kind of announcement about his future. Sting told the crowd he wasn't sure what he will do now...and that part of him wants to stay in TNA after all he's experience and heard in recent days. What a night!
