Michael Sweeney vs. Jamie Power

As I know Michael Sweeney reads this board I'd like to draw attention to a fight that may not be granted a lot of attention in the shadow of the Dunne fight.

Michael met with a fighter that was supposedly stronger, more well conditioned and had a chin of granite.
It was supposed that Power would walk through Sweeney and mechanically grind him down.

Michael impressed everyone by shutting out Power, outboxing him, outfighting him and out toughing him.

    Congrats Mike

    It was a great performance.
Sweeney looked a cut above, and it's not as if Power is a push over either.
He bossed the fight from beginning to end and even roused a headbutt out of Power as it got a bit heated after the first KD.
One of the best performances of the night IMO.

    Glazers Out!

If only the Mayo football team had the same resolve and toughness about them when they visit the capital!

Sweeney fought very well and has plenty of ability but he needs to get serious about his training and start losing weight if he wants to do anything in his career.

He should be fighting at Super-Middleweight but often is fighting well into the Cruiserweight division.

I can vouch for his power - he hit me in the Stadium a few years back and I couldn't take my gum sheild out for about an hour after the fight!

Looked good on Sat, better than Fury by a long shot

I have to say, Fury impressed me and remember, he only had a 10 rd fight a week or two
before the O2 fight. For a young man, and such a big man, he certainly can throw
a variety of shots. I think he's promising.
