Anybody here familiar with the mic? I've my eye on buying a new vocal mic, something with a different flavour to it than my SE2200a and I've seen this has been reduced to a crazy price on Thomann and DV. Any opinions on the mic?

I like SE mic's but I wouldn't be too pushed about either of the mic's you mentioned for vocals. The 2200a is just too brittle sounding for vocals in my opiniton and I'd hazard a guess and reckon the Titan may be the same. Actually I think I did try one sometime back, hmmmm! But I don't think I kept using it for vocals.

The Gemini is prolly the only SE mic I'd consider for vocals.

How much is the Titan these days? I tried this (Blue, Bluebird) a while back for rock vocals. It was like a really posh SM-58 great for vocals and reasonably priced too. Am a big fan of Blue microphones!

Personally I would not buy ANY microphone with out hearing it first. Get in touch with 'ole what's his name, up in here. I think he sells SE mic's. What's that audio dealer fella's name again?

The Titan wasn't one of SE's big successes. I can give you one to try if you like ? I've not heard one myself but had mixed reports from customers.

Thanks for the reply Studiorat, you mentioned exactly what I'm afraid of, the Titan being too similar to the 2200a. And you're right about that sense of brittleness with the 2200a, this is the primary reason for my desire for a different flavour. Sometimes its excellent though, some voices work really well with it. I've actually found myself using the ol' 58 a bit more lately just to contrast with the SE.

Thanks Paul, I may well take you up on that. I wont have time in the next week or two to give it a proper going over, college is back so somethings got to give. I will definitely give you shout about it though, no harm at all in trying it out. Probably the weekend after next.
