Hi all, I'm looking into going on the dole and I've seen that you need to be means tested. What exactly do they look at when they are doing this? Do they need old bank statements/records of investments etc?

    Any advice appreciated thanks :)

If you qualify for JSB you will not be means tested - it will require a minimum of 39 PRSI payments in 2007 and 104 overall.

If you do not qualify for JSB, you will apply for JSA which is means tested. They will need everything you mentioned.

Thanks for that. Don't think I would be able to apply for JSB. How far back would they need to look at on the bank statements for JSA? I'd have very recent ones but would they be looking at over a year? I also have some money in investments, would that exclude me from JSA?
