I was thinking of buying one of Orla Kiely's cabin bags(or start dropping hints to my OH for Christmas:D). When I checked the size of the upright cabin bags they are 3cm too deep for Ryanair's cabin baggage. The height and width are ok.

I don't want to invest in one and then find out that I cannot use it as carry on luggage. Has anyone used one, had any problems ?

    Hey,
I don't have an orla kiely suitcase (personally I think her designs are a bit plain and overpriced, but hey, each to their own) but I recently flew with ryanair. My samonsite case was the right height and width but it was too deep to fit into their luggage checker ( the one beside the check in desk - where you put you luggage in to to see if it's the right size?). However I decided to take a chance and sneak it on board. I was flying to Edinburgh and no one batted an eyelid or even attempted to check my suitcase. It fitted in the overhead bin with plenty of room to spare and there were no problems with it at all. I think as long as it doesn't look too big or bulky you'll be fine, no one will pressure you over 3cm - hopefully!

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks Lizt,
I reckon it should be ok if I don't stuff lots of things in the outside pocket. I was in Edinburgh last week too and they seemed to be stopping the people with the extendable pockets on the outside of their luggage.
