It's hard to get excited, both of these guys are well past their best.

agreed but they're both coming off the back of decent wins plus there's the grudge there... i'm not saying it'll be a classic but it'll be worth a watch... by the sounds of the link i posted earlier it'll be hopkins last fight... most likely jones' too... the 60/40 split if either wins by ko will make more interesting too

im looking forward to it tbh, the fact there both gone past it means its still a genuine competitive fight, it needs to happen imo..

Both have looked good recently so it could end up a great fight..

Are you serious man? These two are legends in boxing and both have been the best in there generation bar none! Ok they are both passed there best
but Jones was the only man to make b.hop look ordinary(my opinion) back in 93.

1st impressions... No, not really but that could change if Jones could do a job on Green. I just feel that Jones has gone as far as he can go in his career really and so has B-hop. I get the feeling if they meet at cruiser then the winner would look for a title at heavy. Green weight in close to 180 if i remember right for his last cruiser fight.

How is B-hop past his best? He destroyed Pavlik a while back and was very close with Calzaghe. Boxes very clever and spoils when he needs to, amazing for his age.

Well, Pavlik is slow and flat footed, perfect fodder for Hopkins. B-Hop did the better of the two against Calzaghe. And RJJ has been KO'd before a few times. I think Bernard will win it by sneaking through the fight and taking it on points but Roy will give him problems imo due to his style. Roy is basically a slightly better version of Jermain Taylor today imo and Taylor gave B-Hop problems. The only thing is Roys chin. He was hurt a few times against Tarver and Calzaghe. His performance against Calzaghe was awful actually. The more I think about it, the more I lean towards Bernard strongly actually.

I agree with you, i think Roy is completley finished and i don't think Hopkins is at all, its just down to styles that makes Hopkins last so long, he's a brilliant technican of the sport and i really hope he beats Jones as i still think Hopkins can still upset a few of the top young boxers.

Hopkins will win this easily. I would prefer to see him face Tarver:P

This fight is about ten years too late.

Jones beating Green is not certain as Green is a tough fighter who has no problem in dragging a fight into the trenches. I remember watching Green against Mundine, and while Mundine won clearly on points, it was still a tough fight from start to finish.

Green has a good chin, decent power in both hands, and is always in good condition. So there could be an upset on the cards in this one imho.

The current version of Roy Jones is better than the current version of Jermaine Taylor? I'm sorry but not a chance. For all of Taylor's faults, stamina and mentality at times imho , he is the much better fighter of the two right now.

If you put both of them in the ring now, with both totally focussed and up for the fight, then Taylor stops Jones.

    From Todays Times

Jones and Hopkins finally agree rematch

Roy Jones Jr and Bernard Hopkins will finally have their rematch early in 2010, 17 years after their initial bout.
Jones claimed a unanimous decision over his rival in May 1993 - and talk of a rematch has raged ever since.
Jones will be 41 when the pair meet and has won his last two fights after losing to Joe Calzaghe.
Hopkins, four years his senior, beat Kelly Pavlik in his last fight.
Jones is scheduled to meet Danny Green of Australia in December while Hopkins is also expected to take another fight before facing Jones.
Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer is relishing the prospect of the two legends meeting, telling espn.com: "Sixteen years ago they fought each other and went on and made history in their own way.
"Each one is considered today as ring royalty. That's why I think when those two guys are going to fight it will be to determine who will be king of the ring. We went back and forth for so long, but we finally pulled it off.
"They both signed and they will fight. It will be a truly historic showdown. A lot of people didn't believe it would ever happen. But guess what? It's going to happen."

Very serious, back in 93 thats the problem. It's now 09. Dont get me wrong I will watch this fight but it's hardly the most exciting prospect of the year.

Glen Johnson v Chad Dawson is a much better fight than this, by far.

That will be a great fight - but Glen always seems to be on the wrong end of dodgy decisions.

hopkins easy but will prob be a terrible fight if ya take into account jones non-performance against calzeaghe and hopkins disruptive style

B-Hop looked pretty good against Pavlik, but Roy isnt going to stand there and let himself get beat up.

that is pretty much what happened against calzaghe. Remember watching it in a pub in london hoping jones would take him up and it was like torture after the first round knockdown from which point jones jus got dismantled and took some beating.

Like B-hop after his doc on bbc with buncey but his style isn't exactly pleasing to the eye as doesn't like to throw to many punches but likes head shoulder and elbow combos, that said great boxer and good at what he does. Only thing on pavlik is whether pavlik was sick as he has said and if that affected his performance.

their first fight was a snorefest not too interested in a rematch - hopkins would likely win as jones is past it

Hopkins would take him to the cleaners.

Would they not both need stairlifts to get into the ring ?
