Circumcision recovery

Hi, long time poster, going anon for this.

I just had a circumcision yesterday. I was excited about getting it done for the last while now i'm afraid i've made a HUGE mistake.

I was bathing it earlier to try and get the bandage off, when i looked down and saw my penis i nearly cried. the swelling and blood was one thing, but it looked like it now angles to the side.
I'm expecting the disolvable sticthes to fall out in over a months time, which is fine, but i tried to put on a pair or underwear today and i barely last 3 seconds what with the ultra sensitivity. I'm afraid that this will affect my sex life. (hell i'm even worried i wont be able to masterbat any more

Yet another problem i found was that now when i urinate it sprays everywhere, the doctors told me there's a small proceedure to correct this so i'm not too worried

what i'm basically looking for is someone who has gone through something similar to tell me things will right themself with time.

Relax. it's only happened. Takes a while for the swelling to go down and for it to settle. It will look completely different in a few days. Sit down when you are taking a piss for now. Good luck.

Relax man, don't panic! Its only been a day, miracles don't happen over night!

I got mine done in january, just keep taking the baths and looking after it! In a month or two you will be amazed! It will look grand! The sensitivity died down after about a week and a half for me.. i know its terrible at the start. Baby steps man!

I have no regrets! Well, there was no real choice,i had to get it done for medical reasons.

Good thread here on the subject. http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2054899493 Go more towards the end and you'll get a near day by day account of the healing process by those who've gone through it before you.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I'm afraid there is nothing to do but grin and bare it for a while. The sensitivity will lessen over the next week or so. The bend is probably just one side being a bit more bruised and swollen than the other and pulling it to one side. When the swelling goes down you should end up being back to straight as an arrow :D The spraying is again probably just due to swelling aroung the tip. Don't worry. Its about a month of rapidly lessening discomfort and lack of sex or masturbation but it is very much worth it.

However, you don't mention morning wood in your opening post. Oh yeah, you are posting at the end of Day 1 post op. Sunday or Monday will probably be your big day....literally :D Just keep a piece of leather to bite down on beside your bed within arms reach :D

    Sorry, Couldn't resist :D

Yes, you will wake up with a shock in the next day or two alright and I won't lie, your first morning wood will be painful, but if there is anything that makes a hard-on go down quick, its a painful hard-on that'll do it :D It'll last a few seconds. The next days won't be as bad and within about 4 or 5 days morning wood will be painless because you'll have loosened up a lot with the swelling going down. Some preventative measures are not to drink anything close to bed time and go for a slash before bed whether you feel like one or not. A common misconception is that morning wood is due to sexual arousal while dreaming. Its not. Its due to a full bladder that while sleeping triggers an erection instead of the waking sensation of needing a pee.

Everything you described is very normal. Had mine done in July last year, only reason I wasn't freaked out is because I'd done heaps of research on the matter. Consultants should really go through the aftermath in more detail. Anyway, don't worry, its just the healing process.

without meaning to be crude, but why did you get it done in the first place?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 166,026 ✭✭✭✭LegacyUser

I got it done because i had phimosis, and i went to my gp and he recommended i get it done.

2 day has been scary. I went to the toilet last night and i notice through the bandage that it was covered in blood and puss... i now fear anything to do with penile mutilation.
I think the surgeon may have nicked my gland because i checked the night before i had the operation done and there's a scratch of sorts there now.

When i soaked off the bandage i put another one on with a vaseline base so it wouldn't stick. I've been taking to my mother (who is a nurse) and she's reckomended me i now soak it twice a day.

Morning wood, and sleeping in general has be chaotic. i keep turning in my sleep and waking in pain. Also when i woke up this morning i actually lay there longer than i needed to to avoid looking at it... i feel like such a kid with this.

I'm thinking of paying a visit to the GP tomorrow if there is still blood and puss around the stitches.

Everything you've described is normal. There's an excellent thread in The Gentlemens Club on this.

If you have any questions or worries, do go and see your GP. Every day is a little better than the previous day, and before long you'll be back to normal.

Puss ? What do you mean ? You should have a certain amount of blood and serous fluid (i.e. watery blood tinged fluid), but puss could be a sign of infection

did someone tell you to use a vaseline base ? I'm not sure that a good idea - might irritate the exposed flesh.

If you think you actually have puss I'd go today.
Can you describe what you mean by puss ? Colour, consistency, smell if there is one ?

    it goes like this:

    day 1: not healed
    day 2: not healed
    day 3: not healed
day 4 (or so): almost totally healed.

I told Rolf that, and he was sceptical, but he's a believer now! :p

seriously dude, don't worry, it's VERY early days for now.

Hey, OP. I had it done years ago. And I know the feeling of looking down for the first time after it was done and absolutely losing the head with panic. I was petrified. Spent about a month in naught but a towel wrapped around my waist. But now it's all good. Never had any problems and no regrets. It'll get better. It needs time! Good luck!

Had it done about 2 months ago, takes a bit of getting used to was confined to dressing gown and no boxers for about 3 or 4 days and was still v-uncomfortable for a few days afterwards but when the stitches fully dissolve(took about 3 weeks) you'll be grand. Ther was defo no puss though might be worth letting your GP have a look

Hi OP here, Really sorry if this is seen as bumpin an old thread, but i havent been able to get to a computer for a while. i'd just like to give a note of my progression.

Ok well things have definately improven, I've not made it a week after the operation.
The puss was from a graze i suffered from surgery. but things are looking better.
the sensitivity is going out of it now, very slowly though, it's still unforcomfortable to go bare in even in boxers alone.

on the underside is an off white mass, which i think is a build up of creams, powders and ointments and puss around a big stich where the banjo string use to meet the head... sickening as that is, i've been trying to wash them away when bathing it in salts and savlon, and drying it out with johnson's poweder so hopfully it should flake off with time.

i've ran my course of antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and nausea tablets. I now take the paracetamol/panadol for a while.

I think i was a bit foolish when it came to dressing the area because i did it so without exposing any of it that i often found myself having to restain myself for extended periods of time when needing to urinate. can be very painful.
speaking of which, the spraying has also stopped. it seems to come out much for forceful and faster though than before i had the Op and the pressure can be uncomfy around the glans, i'll survive though.

I think the best thing that happened was i dressed it up, went out and had a fun day around Limerick with Friends. My mind wasn't totally off it, i checked on it in the toilets just to be sure, but it was fine and i felt great and felt better about it's general recovery.

While i'm here though i'd like to ask... is there anyone out there who has some strict "DO NOT" advice i should take into consideration for recovery in general?

Have you been back to the surgeon or to that GP for a check-up?

The white mass sounds like it should be looked at. And the change in flow/pressure might also need checking out
