Unfotunately no, you cant get it online as there is an adhesive section on it for your signature which is then peeled off and attached to your Learner Permit.

Bloody Motor Tax office has ridiculous opening hours, I've to wait till wednesday to get a chance to go in there. Also in Cork I'm pretty sure they give it to you then and there. Several friends of mine have gotten theirs the day they went in.

Does anyone know roughly how long it is from applying for the learners permit to actually receiving it? I applied today by post, getting really itchy feet now and want to start my lessons ASAP.

Depends where you apply, usually mine is out in about 3 days (that's from Nutgrove). If you're waiting longer than a week, you might want to ring and give them a proverbial kick-up-the-arse.

Well done and keep up the positive thinking. Driving isn't easy by any means for someone starting out. As you get more confident you'll get better at reading the road (anticipating other drivers/pedestrians action and recognising a driver in front who's texting on their phone-dangerous (they weave and decrease their speed coz they're not looking ahead)).
    :)

I have a question. If you are applying by post do you just address it to the motor tax office or is there
some special department in the motor tax office that you would need to address it to?

Just wondering if you're applying by post should you send a cheque for the fee? And if so who do you make it out to?

The issuing body - usually the local County or City Council.
