I (personally) wouldn't wear tights the same colour as a dress, unless that dress was black. Also not sure funky tights are formal enough for a wedding... but it really all depends on what the dress is like!

when in doubt go for something a bit more neutral for a wedding.

I do love coloured tights though :D

Bring two pairs of tights and if you arrive and feel completely uncomfortable, change!

Any ideas on how to best wear funky tights?

Shelly is right, I don't think it would look right with pretty much the same colour dress.

Normally love purple tights though and with a black dress they look stunning.

I think the easiest way to wear coloured or funky patterned tights is with a black short dress and black shoes. Or maybe a dark denim skirt with cool flat boots. http://collegecandy.com/tag/patterned-tights/ .

Op, i don't think purple tights with a purple dress would really work. Pink might work if there was enough of a variation between the dress colour and the tights.

If you don't want to wear plain tights, how about black lacey ones...that way they're intresting but don't clash. Although it would depend on the dress - is it patterned or plain?

hi the dress is a very pale lilac and im after discussing the problem with my w sister who is my usual fashion consultant ...and her opinion was absolutely not to wear the purple tights so its to be a pair up marked black tights with a seam on the back...it has to be tights of some sort as it'll be winter

The black opaque tights with the seam will look fantastic. The best one's in my opinion are made by Wolford. If not why not try some nice tan tights, not the three for a euro selection, but you can get some really great tan tights now to suit all occasions. In my opinion it looks more classy with flesh tights worn at a wedding but whatever you do don't go down the fake tan/bare leg route. I think a visit to one of the major department stores to get advice might be worthwhile.
Hope you have a great day, whatever you do,if you feel comfortable with your selection it will look fantastic!
