Vodafone isp.vodafone.ie slow

    Hi, I just setup my dad with a Vodafone internet connection modem via his mobile phone using a Vodafone addon package.

    The package is a 10Euro a month, and he would not make use a Vodafone dongle for the 20 or 30 Euro.

    He is in Kenmare in Ireland. The phone is connected to the PC via USB and it says 400, however we are only getting about 30k, i.e slower than a dialup...

    Would be happy with 200 or so, don't need it super fast.

    Help please?

    400 what, exactly? The connection between the PC and phone is of no importance, the connection from the phone to the mobile network is what counts. Sounds like there's no 3G coverage, and he's only getting GPRS, which is about 50k max. 30kbps would not be abnormal.

    If there's no 3G, then it's never going to get any better.
