    ... alright folks?

I'm planning on gettin my first tattoo later in the year when I go to LA. Trying to book time with Kat Von D (your first time may as well be special, right?!)

Anyway, I'd like to get a visual representation of the 'uforgiving minute' from the poem 'If' by Rudyarf Kipling.... I've found a cool imagine on an hour glass and just need to tweak it a bit.

I'm artistically challenged so I was wondering if anyone out there wanted to give me a bit of a dig out?! Looking to get sorted as soon as so that I can make an appointment with Ms Von D.

    Cheers!

What do you mean by tweak? If you post the pic you're thinking of getting as a tattoo some of the folks here should be able to throw a few ideas your way. As for getting tattooed by Kat, to my knowledge its a $700 minimum piece (plus an hourly rate I'd guess) and a two year waiting list.
Just thought I'd add, that there are other artists without the 2 year wait based in the states.

It's a €200 shop minimum with no hourly rate so it's case of charging for whatever the piece is worth I gather. Not going all that way specifically for her, I'm meeting a friend who lives over there these days and we're going to see Kiss, so i figured I'd try for her while there....

Anyways... Here's my design. I'm looking to lose the Grim Reaper's sythe and the writing and skelton's hand inside. My idea is for the hourglass to have no bottom so the sand just falls away out of it. I think the background is cool, but I'd like it to sort of fade out at the edges rather than have it as a hard square..

As far as I'm aware the $200 minimum is for a tattoo from a member of High Voltage tattoo, to get one from Kat herself (presuming she has a cancellation from her waiting list) will cost more, $700 is a fair ballpark figure, admittedly thats for a portrait.

If you're planning on cutting out the scythe, skeleton hand, and writing and also the botttom of the hourglass so that also takes out the diamonds the hourglass is sitting on, you're probably better off getting yourself a more ornate looking hourglass or at least a better picture for stenciling purposes, you could check the Alchemy Gothic site or google something along the lines of decorative hourglass or gothic hourglass, might turn up some nice large images. Also check the work of Alexander D. West, he's based in France (if memory isn't going) and turns out great black and grey, he specialises in old timey, creepy sh1t.
I wouldn't hold out much hope of getting tattooed by Kat tbh.

Cheers for the feedback, I've long since made an application through the site so we'll see what happens.

If not her, and I'm realistic enough to know it's a long shot, I just want to get one done. Been thinking about it for years so it's about time I just went and did it!
