Right ive just purchased a 03 altezza 2lt turbo from a garage i didnt give it a proper inspection when i bought it i thought as it was coming from a garage and a warrenty giving with it that it would be ok plus it was a jap import and had not being wrecked by a irish driver

Ive noticed that the oil needle in the main rev chronometer fluxuates it goes from around the middle to the bottom mostly is just stays at 1/4

Aswell the rev needle sits at at about 800 rev's sometimes it spikes a little

Ive checked the oil level and it is fine

Another thing is on the dash i have 3 more gauges, oil pressure, oil temputure and water temputure
When the car is ticking over the oil pressure guage fluxates between 2 and 4 but mostly stays in the middle but when i drive the pressue goes up and stays at a higher level is this normal ?

Worried altezza owner here answers greatly appreciated

To any altezza or is200 owners in between the rev chronometer there is 3 smaller dials what is the one on the top ie it has the oil can symbol ?

If this fluxuates between L and the midddle what does this mean also ?

    hi.
first id say the oil pressure is fine but im open to being corrected.
the picture of yhe oil can is telling you to top up oil level.
warning here...check on the dipstink where the min and max level is and proceed from there.
too much or too little oil will has devastating effects on your engine.

also check when was the oil last changed and the filter.
has the oil been changed regularly.

Car was giving a service just a couple of days ago just before i bought it the oil on the dipstick is right in the middle of the min and max, im confused to as why the needle is moving on the oil meter, shoundnt that stay stationary

right first thing is ring the seller and ask what did they do in the service.
sounds like they didnt change the oil anyway or else they left it short of the max level.have a look and see if the oil filter is looking a few days old or is it very dirty.

you should get back to the garage and get them to top it up to the right level.
the needle you are referring to is the oil pressure ehich will always move a bit.
but should be steady under driving conditions.

Altezza turbo? That's a rarity. Who put in the turbo?

I would get it checked for oil pressure asap, the dangers of low oil pressure are obvious - especially for turbo's. Also another gauge will validate or disprove your cars gauges.

The oil pressure shouldn't spike at all as the oil pump will increase oil pressure as the engine revs. This assumes that the oil pump is healthy.
