Hi all, I'm seriously thinking about doing my Irish leaving cert again, in order to get an honours result so that I can apply to TCD for Primary teaching. I know the College of Commerce is doing a course in Cork, but I don't think that I'd be able to get there on time due to work so I'm looking for an alternative way to study for the Irish Leaving Cert. I'm quite willing to do a number of grinds every week, if I could find a sound Irish teacher.

Grinds is a must....It will help you with everything from grammar to sentence structure.

A good book, I suggest Diogras Nua, Im an irish teacher and have been using it for the last number of years, it has a hard and an easy irish section for all the poems and pros.

You need to cover a text (drama/short stories/novel) I suggest An Triail- Mairead Ni Ghráda- its about a girl who has a baby back in the 50's and is put into a laundry, she leaves with the baby and it details her struggles as a single mother...

Test Papers- get them now or download them from the examinations website. Practice practice practice...Each year the questions are more or less the same...as soon as you get doing them you will feel confident.

Revision book- a good reveision book is key too...it will hekp woth essays. In reagards to the essay it usually has to do with something topically in the news during the year.

Any trouble feel free to pm me.

    Best of luck
