Seen a nice 02 MG ZR earlier for a good price, just wondering has anyone got any experience with this car. what about the fact mgs are no longer in production does this have any bad effects on owning one

Head gasket is a major problem on the petrol models. MG being gone doesn't have any major affects other than reducing the price - parts are not in short supply.

Ive heard of these having dodgy gearboxes too and some pretty ropey electrics too

Neighbour had a V-6 ZT ... beautiful car but quite cramped interior, aforementioned head problem arose too.

The KV6 didn't have as much of the head gasket problem as the normal K-series I thought?

Oops, sorry ... on mature recollection it wasn't the head, it was the timing belt(s) which went pop ... well prematurely too.

MG ZRs have a reputation for very poor build quality, gearbox issues, head gasket problems as mentioned.... to be honest have not heard one good thing about them.

He's selling it for a good price because no-one wants to buy them and the depreciation on them is horrendous

I have a 02 MG ZS for a few years. It was a nice car to drive and not too hard on petrol (if you weren't too heavy with teh foot) ..... but it was hard on head gaskets...!!!!! I had to do it twice in the few years I had it.

It's parked up now as I had to go diesel. I wouldn't expect to get any more than a grand for it.
