Opinions on the "Evening Herald": a "rag" to "Riches" story?

I tend towards the "rag" end of the spectrum, although the paper does have some redeeming features. My more important half enjoys reading it so sometimes I browse through it but, like watching the "Late, Late Show", I usually end up saying "why did I bother?".
On the credit side, I think its two best contributors are Dan White with his financial column, and the no-nonsense retired detective, Gerry O'Carroll.
The quality of their increasingly shrinking letters page leaves a lot to be desired, with just the odd exception that proves the rule...
But the thing that annoys me most about the "Herald" is its obsession with the aftermath of the Katie French story (still?) and with a certain south Dublin criminal whose photo seems to be in the paper every night (he must really enjoy breathing in all that oxygen of publicity!). Yet these two subjects never seem to feature in any other newspaper.
Anyone else notice this, or is it just me?

If papers are repeatedly running pictures it's usually because their sales go up when the pic was used. This happened a lot with Rachel O'Reilly.
