Where did you stay? I lived there for 3 years

What was the accommodation like? A few big hotels - The Fischer, Post, Park, Bruckenwirt and lots of smaller ones and pensions.

What where your fav runs? I would ask what ability skier are you? If a beginner/early inter then St Jo itself would suit you. Or if you are an inter then buy a Schneewinkel pass and go to Waidring and Fiberbrunn too. You can ski over to Germany in Waidring. In St Jo its self I liked most runs and the "black" down the back was good fun. You can also get a more expenisve Kitzbuhler Alps pass which opens up a massive area and you can get the Post bus to the Ski Welt for a few € too if you wanted to try another resort for the day. Only takes about 20 mins. You can also get the bus or train to Kitz which is a few mins on the train away.

What where the buses like if you used them? Didnt use them as I either walked or drove to most places.

Did you use a Tour Op or DIY it? N/A as I lived there but if I was going again I would DIY all the way. Get a cheap Pension and the train from either Munich or Salzburg or if there are a few of you then hire a car. Its an easy run from SZG, INN or MUN.

We stayed in Goldener Lowe, it was close to the ski hire shops and gondola

    What was the accommodation like?

I wouldn't really recommend it. Rooms were badly in need a revamp and we were in the 'superior rooms'. Staff were friendly though apart from barlady! Sauna/steamroom in the hotel.

    What where your fav runs?
The black run into Penzing is nice but the best runs are not actually in St. Johann, get some use out of your skipass and get yourself over to Waidring-Steinplatte on the free ski bus. Well worth the trip, great mogul run or nice wide runs for intermediates and you can ski into Germany!

What where the buses like if you used them?
Fine and ran on time, we almonst missed bus back....

Did you use a Tour Op or DIY it?
    Topflight.

We went in early January and enjoyed really empty slopes but also meant the apres ski was a bit quiet...dpends what you are after. If you are an experienced skiier you will quickly get through all the runs in St. Johann. Kitzbuhel is only 15 mins away on the train and you can get a day pass to ski there.

    Hope that helps!!

    Enjoy

Thanks for the replies you 2. Helps me a lot
Most of the group is Intermediate - Advanced Skiers except for me who is an Intermediate border :-)

Yeah i heard bad things about Hotel Lowe as some of the group was there a number of years ago and it wasnt the best of experiences.
I have made a reservation with Hotel Fischer.

We do plan on travelling to some of the nearer resorts to break up the week a bit
