Hi, would I get better rate for euro by buying koruna when I get to prague or should I buy in Ireand before I go?

Probably better to get it here, I was there earlier this year and got a bit ripped off, cant remember exactly what the rate was at the time but it wasn't great

was there a few weeks ago - got a little changed here and used ATM card then when i needed more so as not to be carrying too much.

One scam there btw is - at a busy currency exchange a guy will offer to swap his Czech money with you to save you both queuing - friend of mine got stung this way, yer man gave him hungarian money which looks similar. He went straight back after the guy and guess what - guy gone and a different one there doing the same thing! Also watch yourself at ATMs.

If you have a credit card just put your money on that.

credit cards usually have foreign currency fees
best to find out what one applies if you have one and see is it worth it
can't imagine it would be, per purchase

From my experience credit cards give the best rates available at the time and are also very cheap if you do get charged. I've put most of my money on it when I'm travelling and I've used it extensively while interrailing (Prague included) and on the J1. I've an Ulster Bank Mastercard and there have been very few charges on it.
