Live in harmony with nature and die like flies

In the good old days people lived in harmony with nature like the noble savages they were. During these times people died from diseases that are curable now. Without good energy sources they had to rely on good old fashioned muscle work. These days we are supposedly destroying the environment with C02 emissions but yet we live longer than we have ever done. All this talk about us destroying the environment is clearly way exaggerated and far detached from the truth.

    Take a look at this.

I think it is a little extreme but I found it informative.

Shiny - you're wasting your time I'd say SLUSK is like a Green version of a holocaust denier. Everything is right with the world and we can continue to sail along like there is no tomorrow ....and one day there won't be! :D

Sounds like scaremongering without watching the whole thing

In Zimbabwe people live in harmony with nature, does not seem to make them much good now does it :D?

You are comparing me to a holocaust denier now? Don't you think that is a bit extreme?

I was merely pointing out that you appear to be in denial about the current environmental problems in the world. It has actually become quite fashionable to jump on the anti-environmental bandwagon and likely to become more so as unpopular measures are called for.

I jumped on this so call "bandwagon" many years ago.
If you are so "concerned" about the environment, why don't you go live in Zimbabwe or in a primitive tribe somewhere, that way you will reduce your CO2 emissions drastically.

Or are you a hypocrite like Al Gore and Bono?

I am intrigued - from my responses to you, you now appear to know all about my lifestyle? As it happens I haven't driven a car for almost thirty years, use public transport wherever possible, eat organic food, grow my own food where possible, recycle absolutely everything - and did so long before it became trendy. What is your obsession with Zimbabwe anyway?

Correct me if I'm wrong here but your argument above seems to boil down to the following.
Human life expectancy has increased therefor any evidence of environmental degeneration must be exaggerated.

That seems to be an incredibly weak argument and you supply absolutely no evidence to back it up. The conclusions that you make violate at least one, if not more logical fallacys on the way.

Methinks this thread is unlikely to generate any constructive debate.

    SLUSK,

If you want to discuss a particular aspect of environmentalism, then do so. But threads such as this, with a needlessly provocative title, in which you dismiss other posters because they don’t live in Zimbabwe or some other “primitive” nation, serve absolutely no purpose.
