motor tax question

    just got the tax form signed there by the guards to say it was off road and went into tax office to tax the car but it was closed, is it possible to drive the car over the weekend untill the offices open monday,,, with the form as it is technically only out of tax 1 day??? heard about a 10 day window for out of date tax which i dunno if it is true or not

    Technically no, you cannot drive the car.

    However keep the form that was stamped by the guards in your car over the weekend and you'll be fine. You'd want to be stopped by the biggest arse of Garda to be done for no tax.

    my nct's booked aswell for dec 12th will i get tax without it??

    Yes ya can still get taxed, i think you only need an nct cert if u r taxing a HGV r public service vehicle. I never got asked for an nct cert when i was taxing my car for the first time, they just want the form filled out wit a gardai stamp and as the previous post said, you shouldn't have any problems driving the car without tax providing you can prove that you have the gardai stamped form and will get it sorted on monday. hope this helps
